Alternatively . . . nah.

Expensive property. The whole business model of AI is based on the premise that humans are too expensive and should be replaced.
And they’re not that subtle when it comes to what they think should happen to the superfluous humans.
Nobody: Dana, what are your thoughts on the art for Big Apple, 3 AM?
Me: It should have leaned way harder into homage to the Wednesday Morning, 3 AM album cover.
Nice of Hijinks to give these kids a chance.

18.02.2026 15:43 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0I think it was one of those things like when your grandpa starts losing his hearing so he just nods along with the conversation and pretends he heard what you said.

18.02.2026 14:36 — 👍 2 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0Sometimes you think you've all had a good pregame conversation and are on the same page, then someone tries to play a Wild Growth as a land and asks if their Cinder Glade makes both a fire and a wood.
18.02.2026 14:21 — 👍 31 🔁 0 💬 9 📌 0My unban hot take about unbanning things like Emrakul, Griselbrand, Iona, Primetime, etc? Get good and stop demanding you get access to more cards to topdeck that will do all the work for you.
17.02.2026 00:05 — 👍 30 🔁 1 💬 7 📌 0Went to make some cuts to a deck sitting at 103 cards and it's now at 110 which makes me feel like I'm making cuts incorrectly.
11.02.2026 17:03 — 👍 41 🔁 3 💬 7 📌 0It's tricky because I get why design wants to make strong commanders with a very clear build path and a reward system baked in for newer players. The problem is those cmdrs aren't just (or even mostly) being played by new players.
11.02.2026 04:44 — 👍 5 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0IMO it's almost exclusively due to the commander too. It's kinda hard to screw up a deck that tells you exactly how to build it, rewards you for doing so, then lets you draw a card when you get that reward like a little cherry on top of a sundae.
11.02.2026 04:40 — 👍 10 🔁 0 💬 3 📌 0Players aren't by and large making their Ashling the Limitless deck worse because it tells you right on the cards what you should be adding to the list.
11.02.2026 04:38 — 👍 2 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0I think that's probably true of a homebrew style deck. I don't think that's true of most recent precon-style commanders that say in clear text right on the card exactly how to build them.
11.02.2026 04:36 — 👍 2 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0Took Ellie/Ellie partners out for their first spin tonight. The deck played really well, aside from a hiccup where just as I was about to cast [[pyromancer's gauntlet]] I realized I misread it in playtesting and it didn't work in the deck 🤪
11.02.2026 04:08 — 👍 14 🔁 0 💬 2 📌 0ESPECIALLY when that must-remove thing is always available in the Command Zone.
11.02.2026 03:51 — 👍 13 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0The solution to people removing must-remove things isn't to make them harder to remove; it's to turn the dials back slightly so the table doesn't have to remove that thing or they'll lose.
11.02.2026 03:49 — 👍 13 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0Design also continues to use ward badly in EDH. If a thing is super strong and gonna be a removal magnet . . . that's balanced. The price you pay for running something super strong is it's gonna be targeted. When you slap ward onto it, you're actually creating a problem where none existed.
11.02.2026 03:36 — 👍 30 🔁 2 💬 5 📌 0It's created this feeling among a lot of players that as long as they don't add any Game Changers to their Auntie Ool or Ashling deck it's still a 2, when in reality almost any obvious tinkering you do makes those decks the best thing in most pods.
11.02.2026 03:30 — 👍 19 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0It's not anyone's fault, but the "precons are a 2" thing from the original bracket explanation was a HUGE mistake. Almost every pre-con commander printed recently is absolute gas, and almost any change you make to those lists make them a strong 3 if they weren't already there out of the box.
