On October 14, 2025, an exceptional event will be observable by astronomers in Western Europe: #Ganymede, Jupiter's third moon, will #occult a magnitude 7.5 star (HIP 37442), causing a slight decrease in brightness of 0.1 magnitude for 17 minutes.

The Tadpoles in Auriga shot in narrow band SHO (Sulfur, Hydrogen, Oxygen) from my backyard during last night's #Astrophotography 🔭📷 session. Slightly psychedelic colors but I like those 🫠. The stars are RGB though. Am I spot on @kat-astro-bot.bsky.social ?

Sympa comme tout! On dirait une image Mono sur le rendu des couleurs en plus, vraiment chouette (mais je suis pas objectif sur ce point 😊)

There are things that are etched into you as if they were by fire branding....the Berlin Wall collapse, 9/11.....and this....I still remember what I felt when I first heard about that discovery, where I learnt about it, and how (in some science mag bought in a train station). 😍

Galaxie spirale NGC 4725

The Ghost of Cassiopeia nebula shot with a 130mm Astro-Physics refractor and a dedicated cooled Poseidon-M monochrome astronomy camera. Filters used were RGB Antlia V-Pro filters for the RGB stars, and Baader 6.5nm narrow band H-alpha and OIII filters for the emission lines of hydrogen and oxygen. Narrowband images : 139x120s for H-alpha, 109x120s for OIII. RGB images : 60x30s for each RGB channel.

The bane of all #astrophotography 🔭 📷 amateurs is stars throwing a tantrum right next to tiny, delicate, nebulae...Navi is such a star, glowing from just beyond the top left corner of this image of the Ghost of Cassiopeia #IC63 I shot from my backyard 🙂. What do you see @kat-astro-bot.bsky.social

Joli! Tu as bien gardé Navi sous contrôle. De mon côté ma tentative m'a conduit à devoir cropper à mort pour éliminer ce phare 🥲.

The Sadr Region, glowing in the heart of Cygnus.

Captured last night with 2 hours on each SHO filter.

Just a small attempt to show the beauty that’s already there.

Ce film (dispo en FR et EN) est destiné à être projeté sur tous les dômes des planétariums qui le désirent.🧪

LDN 1251 is a dark nebula in the constellation of Cepheus. It consists of cosmic molecular clouds and dust blocking the stars. Its form resembles a fish hence the name. But I doubt that anyone verified its smell yet 😅

LDN 1251 The Rotten Fish Nebula captured from my dark site in southern France this month 🇫🇷 😊🔭

This was shot on the EdgeHD 8 with Hyperstar for a total integration time of about 4 hours using an OSC cam with just the UV/IR-Cut filter.
