I hope Mamdani gets much more than some child care money and the gov’s commit for some money for the city. That doesn’t strike me as a particularly impressive take in return for the big boost he’s handed her. And on issues that Mamdani didn’t run on (many of which matter a lot!), we’re hurting now.

The difference would be we’d have a much better chance at winning stuff from the left, such as tax the rich. She’d be less likely to win a rollback of the climate, as one of many examples of important issues. We’re in a very serious defensive battle even tho Mamdani won. There’s no check on her bs.

Stupid jerks and war mongers were chest thumping after the USA killed Qaddafi and Hussein, leading to 1-2 million dead in Iraq and disaster and a return of slavery in Libya. I’m sure they are now, too.

She is a bad governor. We deserve better. And now she has no real reason to constrain her most centrist Republican urges.

And it’s so obviously stupid, too: gas prices are high and driving up bills, not solar ffs, which is the cheapest form of energy. Gah!

A big problem with Mamdani’s extremely early endorsement of Hochul is the legislature does not have leverage in the budget: the governor holds the cards. Nonetheless, we need them to stand up and refuse to do all sorts of bad things she wants. My chief concern is the climate law.

Hochul now can do the thing she wants to do: be a Republican. With no worry that she will lose votes as a result in a primary. It’s very bad!

We have to get the legislature to stand up to her in the budget.

A knock on effect of Mamdani endorsing Hochul early and WFP failing to endorse Delgado, leading him to drop out, is we’re now in far more danger of Hochul gutting NY’s climate law. It’s not “just” lost leverage on tax the rich and funding for Mamdani priorities. Many things. 😔

🎯There are people who argue this sort of thing is “refreshingly honest” or something. There’s an element of truth in that take since the USA has been doing terrible imperial things for centuries. But also: the need for justification created *some* restraint. Now, we’re in war for a mad king’s whims.

Hochul’s attack on the climate law is in the state budget: she’s trying to roll it back as an attachment to the overall budget deal.

Her admin released a memo that she talked up, this is an image of it, with her bs claims, which I referred to, above.

👀 Hochul raises our bills by pushing gas! Her claims to attack the climate law are Trump math.

She’s:
1. ignoring savings implementing the law generates
2. exaggerating costs by assuming a high tax on polluters
3. after ignoring the law for years, pretending it mandates only her contrived scenario

Trump and the Republicans are awful.

AND it’s also true that Jeffries and Schumer also support a war on Iran, but won’t say so out loud. Instead, they clear the way to war by stalling out any potential congressional action to impede Trump on it.
