I hope Mamdani gets much more than some child care money and the gov’s commit for some money for the city. That doesn’t strike me as a particularly impressive take in return for the big boost he’s handed her. And on issues that Mamdani didn’t run on (many of which matter a lot!), we’re hurting now.

The difference would be we’d have a much better chance at winning stuff from the left, such as tax the rich. She’d be less likely to win a rollback of the climate, as one of many examples of important issues. We’re in a very serious defensive battle even tho Mamdani won. There’s no check on her bs.

Ah, I see. Well, groups and movements won major stuff when Teachout and Nixon ran. Delgado was running from the left and raised solid $$$. He was starting to get a little momentum. If Mamdani hadn’t endorsed early and wfp had, Hochul would currently feel pressure from her left. Now, she doesn’t. …

If only we had pivoted to sunlight power / renewables decades ago, there'd be none of this mess.

If the straights of Hormuz are closed either by Iran or military action or just insurers not willing to cover, and therefore no tankers crossing… well, giant economies depend on this oil. It’ll be a disaster. Yet another reason for nations to go rapidly to renewables!

Thanks for replying and I’m sorry I’m not trying to be contentious - tho I think I disagree with you here. A follow up to understand this totally: what do you mean by saying Delgado was not going to change how we ran his campaign?

Could you clarify what you mean by this?

Stupid jerks and war mongers were chest thumping after the USA killed Qaddafi and Hussein, leading to 1-2 million dead in Iraq and disaster and a return of slavery in Libya. I’m sure they are now, too.

The USA should stop interfering in other countries affairs!

Hochul also substantially weakened CP in her roll out (and also cap and invest before halting it).

She’s awful

01.03.2026 14:11 β€” πŸ‘ 4    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

Don’t get me started on how that could have happened. WE tried. Other groups strangled any such attempt before it got rolling.

01.03.2026 14:10 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

Halting cap and invest the day before it was to start with a regulatory roll out is the identical thing…

Except the climate/energy groups never ran a serious campaign for it and also we didn’t seriously fight back when she halted it. Unlike CP and transit groups.

I saved this screenshot of Emily Gallagher talking about why she endorsed Delgado bc it’s such a perfect summary of exactly how Hochul acted in 2022 too.

She is a bad governor. We deserve better. And now she has no real reason to constrain her most centrist Republican urges.

01.03.2026 13:52 β€” πŸ‘ 23    πŸ” 6    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

And it’s so obviously stupid, too: gas prices are high and driving up bills, not solar ffs, which is the cheapest form of energy. Gah!

πŸŽ―πŸ’― also: And much of the msm unquestioningly lapping it up as if it’s true!

β€œAffordability” being weaponized for the interests of rich people and corporate polluters.

A big problem with Mamdani’s extremely early endorsement of Hochul is the legislature does not have leverage in the budget: the governor holds the cards. Nonetheless, we need them to stand up and refuse to do all sorts of bad things she wants. My chief concern is the climate law.

01.03.2026 13:50 β€” πŸ‘ 12    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

Hochul now can do the thing she wants to do: be a Republican. With no worry that she will lose votes as a result in a primary. It’s very bad!

We have to get the legislature to stand up to her in the budget.

01.03.2026 13:48 β€” πŸ‘ 14    πŸ” 1    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

A knock on effect of Mamdani endorsing Hochul early and WFP failing to endorse Delgado, leading him to drop out, is we’re now in far more danger of Hochul gutting NY’s climate law. It’s not β€œjust” lost leverage on tax the rich and funding for Mamdani priorities. Many things. πŸ˜”

Hochul's budget director on climate law changes: 'We'll get there' The Climate Leadership and Community Protection Act, or CLCPA is the blueprint for the state’s goals to drastically reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

β€œWe’ll get there” Hochul rep says, spewing more Trump math in an attempt to roll back the climate law that the governor’s been (illegally) ignoring.

Hochul’s been pushing gas, which raises utility bills. The Legislature should say NO. Let’s not β€œget there” πŸ™„

🎯There are people who argue this sort of thing is β€œrefreshingly honest” or something. There’s an element of truth in that take since the USA has been doing terrible imperial things for centuries. But also: the need for justification created *some* restraint. Now, we’re in war for a mad king’s whims.

Hochul’s attack on the climate law is in the state budget: she’s trying to roll it back as an attachment to the overall budget deal.

Her admin released a memo that she talked up, this is an image of it, with her bs claims, which I referred to, above.

28.02.2026 11:33 β€” πŸ‘ 3    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

πŸ‘€ Hochul raises our bills by pushing gas! Her claims to attack the climate law are Trump math.

She’s:
1. ignoring savings implementing the law generates
2. exaggerating costs by assuming a high tax on polluters
3. after ignoring the law for years, pretending it mandates only her contrived scenario

Trump and the Republicans are awful.

AND it’s also true that Jeffries and Schumer also support a war on Iran, but won’t say so out loud. Instead, they clear the way to war by stalling out any potential congressional action to impede Trump on it.

No to war!!!

Yup NYSERDA’s topkick, Doreen Harris, as well as DEC commissioner Amanda Lefton and PSC chair Rory Christian have been functionally equivalent to gas lobbyists on the big stuff for a while now. They should all resign if they actually want to help, not hurt, New Yorkers.
