Part of what made the latter seasons of Barry so unwatchable/uninteresting for me was the writers decided Barry and others were irredeemably evil

In *most cases* life goes on for those who continue living with all its tiny necessities and petty worries and hopes, dreams, relationships, etc. even while life is snuffed around them or things escalate to violence in much more frequent and erratic ways

Like, reading a memoir of someone who lived through a bunch of the Syrian civil war I wasn't just struck by how awful and horrific it sounded but also how *mundane* it sometimes was.

I get mildly annoyed with some of the "that's not what *fill in blank* terrible bad state" looks like, like civil war or fascism or w/e.
I try not to respond... because it usually is worse than people imagine. But it's also usually more *normal* than people imagine

Then later Harris had a spat with ezra on email when the issue flared up again. Harris publicized the emails because he thought it would make klein look bad and harris's own sub went "huh, sam harris kind of seems like the asshole here" was funny

I don't like ezra klein anymore but the great sam harris ezra klein debate where sam harris invited a gutter racist to talk gutter racism on his show and ezra klein called him on it

I admit that I am not of the "public is worthy of respect" feeling atm (went to a local city council meeting)

Something I rarely see people point out (actually not sure if I've seen anyone point out) is that our progressive income tax code means tax deductions are regressive. A person who makes enough money to be in the highest bracket gets *more* money back than a poor person.

Lol, Idr the age breaks, been too long. We did quite a lot though and iirc the break that ends up mattering isn't age as much as "finished college" and above.
Hispanics that predominantly consume Spanish media also just tend to score everything high, just a generally more positive cohort

I have to kind of accept that I am a weirdo here because when we did survey testing morning shows absolutely crush so many metrics, including authenticity especially with Hispanics

I think some of the hangover is denial of the fact that we've pretty conclusively been dragged into a friend-enemy political dynamic. Which sucks, it's a more zero sum and just worse for everyone. It should be mourned, and some in their mourning are hoping to restore it via maintaining old patterns.
