I think what especially confuses me is that they seemingly took the time to redo parts of the logo, notice how odd the gear looks as the most glaring example.

For those who didn't know, there is/was a bootleg Toontown restaurant in China. It's incredibly strange, and very little is known about it. Why they decided to use Toontown for their theme is anyone's guess.

Interesting, because patch notes mentioned buildings being added a little later into Beta 1. Curious if the original animation is still in the files or not. I assume they aren't since they would've been spread around if so, though

Correction, cog buildings may been in the September 2001 build, I'm not 100% sure.

No idea if any remnant of the original cog building animation is still out there. Beta 1 launched on the same month as 9/11, and at that point cog buildings hadn't been implemented yet, so it had to have been an internal thing.

Finally found the Toonfest clip where Jesse Schell talked about how Toontown's development was impacted by 9/11.
I vaguely heard about this a while back, and being unable to find anything, I was so unsure on if I made it up in my head or not, but here it is!

This is actually a reanimated project! We'll be recreating the original trailer in different animation mediums

If you're looking to animate a scene for the project, we'll be opening slots along with the launch of the server!

I'm currently chipping away at the early planning process for Toontown Online 2003 Trailer: Rewritten 🫡
I am looking for anyone who may want to help in organising the project. Next month, we'll be setting up a Discord server for the project if all goes to plan.
