Neil Armstrong would have turned 95 today!
First on the Moon, but he also completed the first ever docking in space, on Gemini VIII - March 16, 1966.
Four great shots of him during his Gemini days, taken from #GeminiAndMercuryRemastered book - out in just 3 weeks!

It fooled the astronauts too! No points of reference and no atmospheric haze over greater distances...

TODAY! πŸš€In 1971, Apollo 15 landed in the most spectacular location.
Incredibly, from lunar orbit, Al Worden captured the rover and LM on the lunar surface, in which his crewmates were sleeping.
Now enhanced, it gives us a great perspective of the Hadley-Apennine landing site:

Apparently the guy far right was a truck driver who joined the photographers out of curiosity. The photo (NASA / US Army) is in 'The Birth Of Space Photography' chapter of #GeminiAndMercuryRemastered.
To think of all the historic launches that followed, and continue today... 2/2

TODAY is the 75th anniversary of the first ever rocket launch from Cape Canaveral!πŸš€
Seen here on July 24, 1950, Bumper 8 was based on a German V-2 missile.
Less than 400ft away, the photographers were knocked to the ground - well they'd never witnessed a rocket launch before... 1/2

Apollo 11.
Rarely seen shot of Eagle, the Moon and Earthrise, taken on this day, July 21, 1969.
Mike Collin's alternate photo is extremely well known, but this one - shown remastered and cropped - is an absolute beauty!

#OTD 1969
Neil Armstrong: "The most beautiful sight I'd ever seen."

12,000 miles from the Moon, Apollo 11 flew into its shadow. The Sun's corona is behind.
Due to Earthshine, the crew could make out surface features - now seen in the remastered image, right (raw scan, left):
