Yes, that was what I was watching. There was a moment, when he did the ‘ maybe it will, maybe it won’t, I don’t know’ thing. Made me feel like Taiwan is protected until it isn’t.

I am desperately hoping that between DOGE and these tariff wars seed some meaningful resistance. It is difficult, because maga is salivating for civil unrest.

I think Japan & South Korea are fearful of Trump abandoning Taiwan to China. There was a hint to that in his presser last night and his hunt for rare earths in Ukraine and Greenland.

I think all leaders in the west are very much aware of where the Trump regime stands. It is a question of how much time they have to stall him, whilst quietly disentangling and rebuilding. A lot now depends on the internal resistance in the US and solidarity of free western democracies.

It’s a desperate irony that with the end of the USSR, Ukraine had control of the world’s 3rd biggest nuclear arsenal. They gave it up for economic and security guarantees from Russia, US, UK and France. Putin has been breaking agreements ever since.

France has already said it will extend it’s nuclear capability to other allies. It’s more complicated for the UK as it is too technically intertwined with US to make that offer.
