Hello bluesky community!
I'm hiring a postdoc to do machine learning in population genetics.
Starting to build up a lab at Indiana University Bloomington where I just started a faculty position.
Apply with the below link: indiana.peopleadmin.com/postings/30325
Big news! We are recruiting a postdoc to work on tomatillo evolution: jobs.colorado.edu/jobs/JobDeta.... The clade containing tomatillos and its allies (ca 300 spp) has evolved lantern fruits at least 25 times - we want to know why! Join us @rociodeanna.bsky.social & @caschenck-bio.bsky.social

30.05.2025 23:00 โ ๐ 31 ๐ 40 ๐ฌ 2 ๐ 14NSF, NASA and NIH budgets per year, inflation adjusted from 2000-2025 along with the proposed cuts. NSF includes research component only. Massive cuts across all sectors, well below support spanning 25 years.
How bad will it be? Catastrophic.
Proposed cuts to #NSF, #NIH, and #NASA will set the US R&D landscape back 25 yrs+, cause economic and job loss now, and undermine innovations to come.
But, this is the WH's *proposed* budget.
Speak up now before it is too late.

Visual abstract: โwe test hypotheses about floral diversity with community science data and an advanced computer vision model. Red/orange flowers have delayed flowering that matches hummingbird migratory patternsโ
Hot off the presses and so so thrilled. Thanks to @inaturalist.bsky.social + computer vision we found something beautifully simple: Red and orange flowers bloom later than all the other colors in the eastern United States. Paper here: authors.elsevier.com/a/1kwzh3QW8S...

a cluster of Lewis Flax growing together in a large sagebrush field with a snow covered mountain in the background and a clear sky. The Flax flowers have five petals each with a small yellow center.
Where sky meets sage & snow still blankets mountains. And the Sun, our beautiful local star, fuels cycles of wildflowers from season to season, from seed to bloom. While the ground is swept with frost this morning, six months past & six months future, Prairie Flax blossom.
