Feeling very vindicated on the hoyoverse/SAG-AFTRA/VA drama today.

Hearing that SAG's been sending threatening letters to Voice Actors, forcing them to play politics, being unreasonable, and trying to stop them from voicing in Hoyo games is UNREAL.

I stand by my word, SAG is a mafia, not a union.

I would leave those in, those have my full support as well. There are plenty of ways to approach this and a million ways it could work. I think what we're seeing play out is pretty much the worst case scenario bar one or two outcomes

The problem is that hyv isnt a struck company officially, so they have no reason to sign the interim when they could just negotiate for a final contract

There's a number of things. The language around first preference for union members is vague and feels predatory with the fines involved.

The automatic binding to the general agreement for signing the interim (based on the available information), which feels predatory.

Agree WHOLEHEARTEDLY with this point! HYV has put themselves in a spot where they are both too big to fail and precariously perched on the edge of a cliff with no rope at the same time.

In my experience, they likely wouldn't have cared about HYV switching studios, but the fighting between EN VA's and Global/Western fans when picked up by CN gacha news and spread around has definitely sparked them (See: Nikke stream chat about Kayli Mills)

And I wholeheartedly agree with AI protections.

I just cant in good faith support SAG, not after reading the agreements and especially not with how much is behind closed doors.

As a hypothetical, if hoyo did so now that all this has happened, and the CN/EN community rioted over it (they've done more for less) and as a result hoyo lost millions. If Hoyo then recast the VA's anyway to bring back good faith from their CN players, would you be okay with it then?

Depends on what you consider to be the entry point of hyper consumerism vs regular consumerism but it's a mix of that and hyper parasociality to the characters and companies themselves

It is still widely known today in the GFL community and CN players in some circles are still holding a grudge over it. GFL lost millions from it.

To address your first part, because SAG is an american union they are bound by TH no matter who they are dealing with, American or not.

Secondly, those VA's are incorrect legally. Because SAG work is by "project" and not by "location", non-american VA's would still be subject to SAG jurisdiction.

No the bit about "no one cares what fans think" is a big part of what riled up people in the first place.

International VA's can absolutely get the must join status, dont know where you got that bit.

Also Taft Hartley can only be extended up to 90 days at maximum and this 'waiver' they tout doesnt exist in the document so SAG gets to arbitrarily pick by their own rules who gets one.

This kind of rhetoric is qhat made this become a hot mess in the first place, just to put it out there.

Problem is how this is being approached and the beginnings of any discussion on the matter being attacks.
