An economist from Ghana told me that a bonus reason for promoting wind and solar power is that itโ€™s much harder to use for corruption and repressive geopolitics.

Remind me again. Who is in favour of fossil fuels?

Great idea not to mention that the entire saving was made in the year ending March 2025, two months before Reform took over.

Torture Techniques from CIA Black Sites Were Used at Alligator Alcatraz Amnesty International, interviewing migrant detainees, identifies use of the confinement box. There can be no denying it is a torture prison

They're using the confinement box, one of the most horrific methods of CIA torture in the post-9/11 black sites, against migrants now. This is the direct result of the lack of consequences for the architects of the torture program. Either there will be criminal penalties for this or it will expand.

Reform UK councillor slapped with a ยฃ40,000 fine for hiring an illegal worker. ๐Ÿค”

So much for "taking back control", apparently the rule is: deport themโ€ฆ but only after weโ€™ve squeezed some cheap labour out of them.

A masterclass in hypocrisy!

A Reform UK councillorโ€™s business has been handed a ยฃ40,000 fine after the company was found to have hired someone without the legal right to work in the UK.

Michael Andrew Harrison, who represents Seaham on Durham county council, is appealing the levy against his business Churchills Management Ltd, arguing that the employee โ€” who is of Thai descent โ€” did have the legal right to work.

But the penalty is the latest embarrassment for Reform at a time when Nigel Farage is trying to demonstrate that his start-up populist party can win power and lead the country.

Reform has led the polls of voters for most of this year, but with just five MPs there is scepticism about the partyโ€™s infrastructure and its ability to vet hundreds of suitable candidates for a general election campaign.

Heartening evidence - this time from @stellacreasy.bsky.social in the Guardian - that the blockage towards better relations with Europe is the exceptionalists at the heart of UKG and the pro-European movement as much as Brexiters.

The UK has to stop ignoring Europe and the 27.

The US has declared rhetorical war on the EU The calls from America this weekend to destroy the EU are revealing. They hate the union because it's the only thing that can keep European countries from being Russian or American vassals.

The calls from America this weekend to "abolish the EU" are for one simple reason: the EU is the only thing that can keep European nation-states from becoming Russian or American vassals.

It just proves more than ever that Russia DID interfere in the referendum. As far as UK joining theEU,British mindset (mainly politicians both Labour&Tories) has to change and you have to stop thinking that you are doing Europe a favour by being members ( wonโ€™t happen) thatโ€™s why you wonโ€™t rejoin.
