8-If Hans Asperger had never been confirmed a nazi (or confirmed to strictly not be one), I feel like you'd still see people refer to themselves as aspies and support the Asperger's label. Especially given how many other sublabels ppl use that are literally just new age functioning labels.

7-NeuroTribes is a good book overall but it has tons of problems. All due respect to Steve but I feel like he missed out on a lot. There need to be more books about autism history (esp neurodiversity movement).

More than 50? Closer to 30 unless there’s something crucial I’ve missed.

I’m not sure anything can top autistics(.)org. It did such a great job of platforming peoples’ writings (many of which being extremely good) and the site owners also used it to help people out when they needed it-like materially help them. It was also often hilarious.

4-FC and RPM are valid and can be very helpful for people but their field is far from its problems that it seriously needs to address if they wish to be taken seriously vs. being written off as fraudulent

2-I’m not really a fan of the disability pride flag. It’s better than the original but I’m still not sure why they chose the colors they did for each disability represented. I also just don’t much care for the commodification of disability pride in general. Call me a scrooge but….yeah.

1-The I/DD-led Self-Advocacy Movement deserves much more recognition than they get

Also yeah, I think whatever you call the main strand of the ND movement is still really Jewish. The early days were very Jewish in particular.

Got a new internship at center for puppetry arts. One of my new coworkers is wearing a Star Trek Lower Decks shirt. Turns out her husband works on the show. They have tons of Moopsy plushes.

I’m not sure the pace at which things have happened is precedented, but all the stuff with ICE and whatnot has.

I think it’s important to keep in mind that pretty much every bad thing happening right now in America has happened before. That doesn’t make it any less abhorrent, but it does mean we’ve been here before as a country.
