You can also do the VS seeker thing you described in HGSS and rematch people as much as you want within their rematch time frame. You also just don't need to be at the exact level of bosses to defeat them lol.

Yellow's level curve is a lot more egregious and Kanto in general also does the "trainers stay at the same level wherever you go" thing. It feels like Johto has a weird double standard that other regions get a pass on.

Wish I could hold this up for everyone on this app to see.

This kind of thing does point out a real ethical dilemma: block or mute?

This is a hard pill to swallow but while I think ABA should be sent back to the shdows from which it came, I don’t think the solution to getting rid of it is a law to ban the practice. That just isn’t how things work.

15.12.2025 16:59 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

…because they frame it in a way that I don’t think really gets to the core of why it’s bad or its true origins beyond Lovaas (that are in fact important context!!). The other pioneers of aba and radical behaviorism are important to know about too & why they were wrong too.

15.12.2025 16:56 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

…but I think there are ways we can demonstrate evidence that aba is harmful without just saying β€œbecause it causes ptsd”. It’s a hard thing to even quantify bc a lot of different things can cause PTSD.

I get tired of how a lot of people talk about ABA. Not because I disagree with them but…

15.12.2025 16:53 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

It’s done a lot of harm to our cause bc it gives off the impression that it’s the best we can come up with for a study. There are good studies on the harms of ABA though, but the PTSD study has by far gained the most traction. I think it affirms what a lot of ppl assume and may be true to an extent…

The grand plan of the "BanABA" initiative is to.....somehow persuade the FDA to ban the entire practice on account of it being false advertising. Not at all how things work.

14.12.2025 05:49 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

The study itself was published in a pay-to-play journal, which means they'll publish any study as long as the person submitting pays for the submission. It's also just really badly designed like many pro-ABA studies (even though it's not).

14.12.2025 05:48 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

Not disputing the overall claim here but I do want to flag that the BanAba ""initiative"" is deeply unserious, impractical, and led by someone who is extremely toxic and a textbook aspie supremacist. She's gotten some clout from publishing a study on ABA and PTSD but it's a horribly designed study.

They're opposed on mostly everything but the one thing they've always agreed on is vaccines. Pretty sure they've cosigned onto other letters before, including this past year, but this isn't too surprising imo. The situation is, however, dire.

8-If Hans Asperger had never been confirmed a nazi (or confirmed to strictly not be one), I feel like you'd still see people refer to themselves as aspies and support the Asperger's label. Especially given how many other sublabels ppl use that are literally just new age functioning labels.

I owe yall 2 of these now almost two months later.

7-NeuroTribes is a good book overall but it has tons of problems. All due respect to Steve but I feel like he missed out on a lot. There need to be more books about autism history (esp neurodiversity movement).

More than 50? Closer to 30 unless there’s something crucial I’ve missed.

I’m not sure anything can top autistics(.)org. It did such a great job of platforming peoples’ writings (many of which being extremely good) and the site owners also used it to help people out when they needed it-like materially help them. It was also often hilarious.

6-There isn’t a simple term that doesn’t just end up being reductive in some way to describe someone’s experience of disability. This is why HSN/MSN/LSN have become the new age functioning labels.

4-FC and RPM are valid and can be very helpful for people but their field is far from its problems that it seriously needs to address if they wish to be taken seriously vs. being written off as fraudulent

3-A$ is still bad but they've become laughably irrelevant at this point, especially in the face of the current administration.

2-I’m not really a fan of the disability pride flag. It’s better than the original but I’m still not sure why they chose the colors they did for each disability represented. I also just don’t much care for the commodification of disability pride in general. Call me a scrooge but….yeah.

There were definitely Israeli folks involved back in the 90s like Sola Shelley and a guy named Smadar. Possibly more, I just know those. I agree with Esther.

We REALLY need ACs back. I use it in my little corner but I'm not an influencer of any kind lol.

Also yeah, I think whatever you call the main strand of the ND movement is still really Jewish. The early days were very Jewish in particular.

His name is Steve Vitale. He's an animator and has a facebook page that includes the frames he worked on in Lower Decks.
