Here is the view using 10X50 binoculars of the occultation of Saturn on January 4th.

This is set for 17:15 (5:15pm) about 5 minutes before Saturn disappeares behind the Moon.

An occultation of Saturn by the Moon occurs on the evening of January 4th 2025.
The Moon passes in front of the planet.

Starts at 5:21pm from our latitude and end at 6:28pm.
Times change depending on latitude and longitude but is seen from Tunisia northwards.

Winter solstice was on Saturday 21st December at 09:17 gmt. Centre of Sun on tropic of Capricorn and most southerly due to tilt of Earth.
This marks shortest day (in daylight hours) for northern hemisphere and longest day in southern hemisphere.

Full Moon rose on 15th December as Sun set. Called cold Moon according to farmers almanac.

Highest full Moon of year as nearest to winter solstice and in sky for longest as Moon in sky when Sun below horizon.

Geminid meteor shower peaks overnight 13th to 14th December.
Meteors are from asteroid 3200 Phaethon so usually bright despite moon.
Image shows forecast peak at 21:00. Meteors seem to track back to radiant just above the bright star Castor.
