Medicaid Spending for Undocumented Immigrants This cross-sectional analysis examines emergency Medicaid spending relative to total Medicaid expenditures and identifies state factors associated with variation in spending.

💡New @jama.com study coauthored by Ben Sommers finds #EmergencyMedicaid to be a very small part of total spending, with state costs primarily driven by demographics—not policies. Cuts to Emergency Medicaid in new budget law will produce minimal savings and put immigrant-serving providers at risk.

Texas GA-46 threatens confidentiality and trust between clinicians and immigrants. We must advocate to protect privacy and ensure hospitals remain safe spaces.

Texas Executive Order GA-46 and the Erosion of Trust in Health Care | NEJM A new Texas policy could deter immigrants, both documented and undocumented, from seeking help for serious medical concerns. Consequences of this measure may reverberate widely.

📢 Clinicians must continue to advocate against policies like GA-46 that risk moral injury & conflict with our ethical responsibility to do no harm. Together we can uphold dignity in healthcare.
