Storytelling is as old as humanity itself. It's what I truly believe helps distinguish us from other creatures in our world.

To be around the fire, regaling a captive audience with heroic exploits, divine power of nature, heritage, culture, traditions, etc….is what defines us as humans!

Getting to capture such moments at @faeble-larp.bsky.social last year was a true joy!

There was something visceral and raw about these moments and I'm so happy with how these sets of shots turned out!

Fantasy and play and storytelling is integral to every human being, and I hope I can ensure to do my part in capturing everyone’s experience.

Adding: inclusivity covers so many categories. From skin color to body shape, simplicity or complexity of costuming, actions and activities being represented, age groups, etc etc etc.

Granted, we’re a small team relative to the number of attendees, but I hope that by having these conversations early as well as reinforcing them up to and throughout the event, we do our best in capturing EVERYONE’S beauty and magical moments at said event.

Style or proficiency is secondary (not saying it's not important nor not factored in).

Photos are a powerful thing. They serve as memories for people, they serve as validation. And it sucks when people don't have it or feel like they have been missed.

I've made it a point to have these conversations early, as early as when we are going through the hiring process to fill out the team.

I request to see their portfolio before hand and identify how good they are in capturing a diverse range of subjects.

How can we make sure our inbuilt biases or blind spots don't hinder us from delivering high quality service to everyone, especially under-represented folks?

Especially when it comes to nerd/geek spaces like LARP.

Whenever I have the opportunity and privilege to be in a leadership role, one of the core tenents I like to establish is, how can I and my team be actively, not passively, inclusive?

“Creating an entire generation of the largest disabled and stunted, physically and mentally, of Gazians that will decimate their future potential because of your genocide is evil” should not be controversial!!!

“Destroying ENTIRE cities, decimating entire generations of families, resulting in ATLEAST 67,000+ deaths, preventing humanitarian aid or international oversight is supervillain shit” should not be controversial!

“Killing hundreds during a ceasefire is bad! Especially children and elders” should not be controversial

“Making new laws legalizing land grabbing/illegal settlers so as to ethnically cleanse Palestinians is wrong” should not be controversial.

History will look at those who stayed on the Israel Bandwagon the same as those who remained on the Trump bandwagon.

Like…. “Don’t kill kids and don’t rape kids” should NOT be this political or controversial!
