I will also say that itβs a bit wild to me that no press freedom organization or professional journalistic association has tried to contact me or even put out a statement here.
I mean Jesus Christ. A little solidarity from institutions would be nice here!
Itβs notable that 53% of Albertans think Danielle Smith is a separatist, while 77% think Naheed Nenshi is not. Thatβs a pretty wide gap and sets up an interesting election campaign if this is the ballot box question.

We already had an integrated health care systemβbefore the AB government dismantled AHS.
They're spending billions of public dollars on endless restructuring & private profits, instead of expanding public capacity & improving care.

How to Think Critically About Data (Even if you're not a data nerd like me) A free 45-minute Lunch & Learn session with Robson Fletcher, Data & Storytelling Strategist. Topics include: - How statistics & data visualization can mislead -- intentionally or accidentally - Practical tips for evaluating data you are presented with - Why feelings DO matter when it comes to facts Tuesday, March 17 12:00 p.m. to 12:45 p.m. Via Google Meet (pre-registration required)
I'm no longer a data journalist but, as an independent practitoner, one of my goals is still to help people make sense of the daily deluge of data we're all swimming in.
To that end, I'm hosting this free online session on March 17.
You don't have to be a nerd to come nerd out with me... π€

Check out the latest on the traitor crew:
Allegations he took control of the money of an elderly couple - rented a condo in Arizona, bought wine, lost 9k in crypto, invested in his own failed condo scheme.
This is the guy who would break up our country.

The UCP promised triage doctors weeks ago, but Albertans are still waiting.
Now the Premier is pointing fingers instead of taking responsibility.
Yet again, this government is playing the blame game while ERs remain overcrowded and frontline staff are stretched to the limit.

It was a solemn day, 21 years ago when four RCMP officers gave their lives in their service to Albertans.
Today, my UCP desecrate their memories by demonizing the RCMP and pushing for a provincial police force no one wants.

βSo whatβs behind Albertaβs fiscal troubles? It turns out that policy choices, not external factors, are largely to blame.β
Well blow me down with a feather, would never have guessed that.
Thanks, Alberta Next panel member.
Maybe Albertans should have elected a leader instead of a lobbyist.

If you spend time in the bad place, youβre hearing this claim a lot:
Alberta sends $23B more to Ottawa than it gets back. If we separated, weβd erase the $9B deficit and have a $14B surplus.
It sounds simple. Itβs wrong. Here's why. π§΅

Back in the day, even small-town journalists like me would have asked: "Where are you getting your data from?"
Afterward, we continued to ask until the government shared its public datasets, allowing us to start our comparisons.
That is all!!

I'm so tired of politicians like Smith and Poilievre who work to encourage Albertans and Canadians to be the worst version of ourselves
I remember multiple news stories from 20 yrs ago when Albertans helped immigrant communities
Now we have a premier who scapegoats them

As a Long COVID sufferer who has already had a COVID induced heart attack, pretty much everything she is saying is accurate.
Everyone needs to protect themselves from airborne pathogen spread, and governments (as well as big business) are NOT providing us with clean indoor air to reduce spread.
