There is so much focus on division so today it is great to come together with other charities, services and local authorities to discuss how we can provide welcome and safety. @migrationyorkshire.bsky.social

Today feels like a good day to remember that most of us believe in welcome πŸ’œ
Here are some of the thousands of messages we've received from supporters recently. We'll be delivering them to Number 10, because it seems the government needs this reminder too.

No refugee lives an easy life

UK has stripped Β£5bn in aid including funds that work to prevent conflicts by 45%

Slashing support in refugee hotspots and wanting there to be fewer refugees is comical

Immigration is blamed when no country's research has come close to proving that immigration is bad

Maryam, an architect, left Afghanistan but it was art that freed her from her mental battle

For a long time, she felt she couldn’t do anything useful

She was able to express her feelings and take a break from her harsh reality

We take this and combine it with proven therapeutic techniques

Asylum Seekers are easily blamed for problems they have no part in

You can send a quick positive message or story about asylum seekers with this link and it will be delivered directly to 10 Downing Street!

A court just gave these violent demonstrators what they wanted. After weeks of disorder, the Epping hotel won't house people seeking asylum.

No one should have to live in hotels. But this sets a terrifying precedent. Government must step up to protect people from more violent demos.

Today there is a lot of attention on the hotels where families fleeing violence and war temporarily live. This is their home. Whilst there are calls for protests which spread fear, the need to be kind and demonstrate basic compassion is needed more than ever.

Syria’s new regime still has 10000s missing, torture and executions are still happening

People are detained for their ethnicity and for simple coincidences

Conflict has killed over 2800 civilians indiscriminately, just in 2025

The government is still planning on deporting some Syrians

How small boat crossings shift public opinion - UK in a changing Europe Apurav Bhatiya and Shanta Kadam analyse the impact of small boat crossings on public opinion towards migration in the UK.

This excellent blog post highlights the power of language and how public opinion is shaped by how a story is told. Understanding this is essential for building evidence-based and politically sustainable policies.

Hurrah for calm and thoughtful narratives!
