It’s my birthday today. I’m 57 and I’ve had 57 messages of good wishes. Deeply appreciate them but it’s quite spooky and sets a precedent.

About time for something new. Keen to see what happens with this.

So much recently being in my 50’s hits me in many ways (still being 25 in my head) but none more than cultural frames of reference. I’m in a theatre foyer waiting to see the Waterboys who were such a big part of my teen years. We’re all quite old.

I couldn’t comment! I only saw him that one time and he didn’t come back in so I’m my head he found his four legged friend and they went in their merry way.

I was eating in a studio canteen and George Michael came in looking for his dog.

My first pop crush! Still a force to be reckoned with. Happy Birthday.

I’m enjoying Rockonteurs with Gary Kemp and Guy Pratt

Reflecting on my day yesterday I heard two things I wasn’t expecting. “I’m writing a story about a dog with the face of an owl” and “I’ve had enough of sticking things up my bum” Unrelated conversations obviously. I liked yesterday.

I’m just starting A Heartbreaking Work of Staggering Genius by Dave Eggers. You’ve got to try a book with that title haven’t you?
