HMS Ville de Paris by Dereck Gardner

A Royal Navy 1st rate launched in 1795. Her name comes from the French flagship, captured at the Battle of the Saintes in 1782. The Royal Navy sometimes adopted names of foreign ship that had fought well.

Great cover and album. I played this on hospital radio in the 80s. Not sure what the patients would have made of it.

This is a photograph of an old, dusty window with a diamond-patterned metal grille. Thick cobwebs cover the lower part of the window and the surrounding area. Sunlight is illuminating the webs and casting diamond shadows on the rough stone sill.

Conjectural reconstruction of the peaceful sixth-century monastery at Kingarth, Isle of Bute - at least peaceful until the Vikings arrived. It is said to have been founded by the Irish monk Cathan (Catan or Cattan), but the site is more commonly associated with his nephew, St Blane (Irish BlÑÑn).

An invisible man stands in a lab, only visible due to his glasses, trench coat and partial bandages around where his face should be. Two faces peer at him through a window behind.

'Kew Church.' (c1980) In this painting of St Anne's Church, William Bowyer shows why he was considered a master of painting the vagaries of light. St Anne's is situated on Kew Green, adjacent to the Royal Botanic Gardens in theΒ London Borough of Richmond upon Thames.

A seascape featuring a wooden pier extending over a reflective shoreline at low tide. The sky is filled with textured clouds, illuminated by the soft glow of the sun, casting long shadows. A seagull soars in the sky, adding to the serene yet atmospheric scene.

Dunstanburgh Castle is as close to taking a pilgrimage as there is for landscape photographers.
Here is one I took a few years ago.
I don't think I've ever shared it on any social media.
