Last week, 115 girls aged 7-12 were killed when bombs fell at the Shajareh Tayyebeh school in southern Iran.
Escalation is a political choice β the UK government must uphold international law and push for peace.
International law is meant to stop moments like this: illegal and unprovoked US and Israeli attacks on Iran.
Our international laws were written in the aftermath of WWII by people who understood that international law exists to protect people.

Protecting rainforests means supporting the people who live there.

MONLAR has set up eight demonstration farms where farmers test ecological farming methods in real conditions.
Farmers are also now developing new income streams through community-based tourism, while communities are monitoring rainforest areas and reporting illegal activity like clearing & mining.
So far, 786 households across four districts have been trained to combine tea growing with other crops, shrubs and trees, reduce agrochemical use, and revive traditional rice varieties.
This helps reduce dependence on tea and cuts chemical runoff into rainforest areas.
Together with the Movement for Land and Agricultural Reform, War on Want is supporting farmers to earn a living in ways that protect the rainforest.

Sri Lanka is losing its rainforests β but communities are fighting to protect them.
Many farmers living near the rainforests depend on tea for their income. Yet tea plantation expansion and activities like firewood use in tea processing are contributing to forest loss.π§΅
After committing genocide of the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip with impunity, Israel thinks it can annex the West Bank without being held to account.
The UK government must stand by its word & take action to end Israelβs annexation of the West Bank. secure.waronwant.org/page/187131/...
In October 2025, Israel advanced a new bill calling for the formal annexation of the West Bank.
In February 2026, Israel approved plans to claim large areas of the occupied West Bank as Israelβs βstate propertyβ if Palestinians cannot prove ownership β which is almost impossible.
βΌοΈIsrael is accelerating its annexation of the West Bank β illegally incorporating more of the Palestinian territory it occupies into the state of Israel.
The UK has opposed βany form of annexationβ β now it must hold Israel to account.

Cuba has the right to determine its own political, economic and social systems, free from external interference and threats.

We stand in solidarity with the people of Cuba β and Venezuela.
We condemn US imperialism, sanctions and military aggression that harm people and planet, and undermine progressive movements in the region.
Ordinary Cubans are paying the price: widespread blackouts, fuel scarcity affecting hospitals, transport and water systems, and a deepening humanitarian crisis fuelled by the USβs blockade.

After a 64-year blockade, US President Donald Trump is seeking regime change in Cuba.
Like the US attack on Venezuela, this is part of a pattern of US military aggression in Latin America to secure US dominance under the guise of βsecurityβ.

Any extraction of minerals must be fair β putting people and planet first. π
Trade deals should work for the countries where minerals are mined (especially in the Global South), and powerful countries the US must be held to account.
This must be understood in the context of a broader US push for critical minerals.
At a recent US-led summit involving 50 countries, the US proposed a new critical-mineral trading bloc aimed at challenging Chinaβs dominance in rare-earth mining.

The South Crofty mine could receive $225m (Β£166m) from the US government as it seeks to secure access to tin, which it considers a critical mineral.
Cornwall is hoping to be a pioneer in lithium mining.
Lithium β often called βwhite goldβ β is used in rechargeable batteries. Lithium mining in Cornwall is being promoted as a source of new jobs and a way to help the UKβs transition to renewable energy.
