Biden only won by less than 1 point in key swing states. Democrats need to choose wisely going forward. Repeating the same media-hyped, cautious approach won’t work. The base wants real action, not platitudes or comfortable speeches. It is no surprise Bernie Sanders progressive alumni have gained in popularity. Bernie has been proven right all along.

The U.S. Senate blocked a House-passed bill that would have funded the Department of Homeland Security through September 30. The vote failed because 60 votes were needed to invoke cloture and move forward. Nearly all Democrats voted no. Sen. Fetterman of Pennsylvania was the only Democrat who voted yes to advance the bill.

Mayor Zohran Mamdani nominated former federal prosecutor Nadia Shihata to serve as NYC’s Department of Investigation Commissioner, the agency that combats corruption and fraud in city government. CBS News reports that a 14 year old U.S. citizen girl was zip tied during a military style immigration raid at a Mexican cultural horse racing event near Boise, Idaho. Photos show bruises, and witnesses say agents pointed guns at children. The lawsuit says agents smashed car windows, leaving one boy with glass shards in his mouth. Her mother said agents threatened to blow her head off and described being beaten: “They kicked me, they punched me, they stepped on me.” The raid detained hundreds, holding about 375 mostly Latino citizens and legal residents before releasing them. The ACLU has now filed a federal civil rights lawsuit, arguing the raid used extreme force, traumatized children, and treated Latino families like suspects simply for attending a community event.

Tom Malinowski has conceded the Democratic primary in New Jersey’s 11th Congressional District to Analilia Mejia. Malinowski praised Mejia for running a positive campaign and inspiring voters. Mejia will face Republican Joe Hathaway in the general election on April 16. Democrats are favored to hold the district.
