i've been reporting on a CoreCivic prison in their home state of TN (just a regular old prison) and these people are such a special kind of awful

In 2025, CoreCivic’s net earnings spiked to $116.5 million, an almost 70 percent increase from 2024. (Net earnings, also known as net revenue or net income, is the profit left over after expenses, taxes, and deductions are taken out.)

In advance of the call, CoreCivic released its 2025 earnings. During the fourth quarter, revenue from ICE—its “largest government partner”—more than doubled from the previous year, from $244.7 million compared to $120.3 million. (The company’s fourth quarter is from October to the end of December.)

From today's CoreCivic earnings call: “One of the big questions, I think, concerns for investors has been the pace of detention by ICE, that it's been below what investors thought it was going to be,” one caller said. “I think people thought we'd be at that 100,000 level.”
