A new lawsuit in York County, Pennsylvania, highlights a pattern of allegations of medical neglect by for-profit correctional healthcare company PrimeCare.
Willie Cunningham was detained at York County Prison when he began to experience excruciating abdominal pain. A nurse told him he had heartburn. It was appendicitis. βI believed in these people,β he told me. βI didnβt know I was dying.β

ICE took their papersβand wonβt give them back
Immigrants are being released from detention without documents proving their status.
In Minnesota, despite showing documents proving active immigration cases, pending visas, or even US citizenship, residents were arrested and detained by ICE for days or weeks.
But many who were later set free are now encountering a new challenge: ICE isnβt giving back their immigration documents.

Despite Increased Profits, Private Prison Companies Want to Cage Even More People
CoreCivic and GEO Groupβs investors expressed frustration that ICEβs record immigration detention numbers arenβt high enough.
On CoreCivic's quarterly earnings call, one caller asked: βWould you be willing to opine on the recent headlines related to the Minnesota pullback that Homan announced, and possibly investors misinterpreting that as a national mandate change?β

CoreCivic and GEO Groupβs investors expressed frustration that ICEβs record immigration detention numbers arenβt high enough.
In earnings calls earlier today, investors in GEO Group and CoreCivic criticized ICE. Their chief complaint? ICE's detained population, despite hitting record highs, still isn't large enough.

From today's CoreCivic earnings call: βOne of the big questions, I think, concerns for investors has been the pace of detention by ICE, that it's been below what investors thought it was going to be,β one caller said. βI think people thought we'd be at that 100,000 level.β

Trumpβs ICE Wonβt Stop Abducting Kids
Here are just some of the ways Trumpβs ICE has terrorized thousands of children, like five-year-old Liam Conejo Ramos, since the administration took office.
ICE pursued school buses, intruded on campuses, and abducted students in MN and beyond. βOur classrooms are sacred spacesβ¦ This government is defiling them.β

These are the high schoolers taking a stand against ICE: βYou canβt let despair take overβ
Thousands of students across the US have been walking out of their schools to protest ICE in their communities
for my latest @us.theguardian.com talked to teens leading and joining anti-ICE walkouts from TX to MD to WI.
one NYC teen: "I feel scared [of ICE] every day... But Iβm not going to let that stop me, because bravery is just the positive way to say youβre scared, and Iβd rather be brave than scared."

How Minneapolis taught America to fight back
Our Minnesotan reporters connect with friends and neighbors back home and find resolute resistance to ICE at every turn.
In a Minnesota town, Emily, a nurse who treats many immigrant patients, canβt locate a patient who just had a test result that shows they might have cancer.
The patient was recently detained by ICE. Situations like these have forced the clinic to adapt. This week on @revealnews.org:

This is unconscionable.
But some of it is familiar. When I started as a public defender more than 10 years ago, NYPD and Corrections Officers also used the term "bodies" to refer to the people in their custody.
It is both small and huge that I now rarely hear that. We demanded better.
