I lived in College Park during that weird storm in 2022. We lost power for 2.5 days. City council had inquired into the cost to bury lines, and it was an astronomical cost per property owner. 😔

Back in my day (04-08), school was 7:30-2:10. We had a half hour for lunch, but a good chunk of that was standing in line.

I didn’t do sports, but I know it was for several hours after school.

One thing I feel ought to be discussed more is the fact that basically all rural and suburban places in the US are subsidized by cities. They resent cities. They insult cities. They elect politicians who abuse cities. But none of them could survive without cities.

I was so sad to see a Google Street View of my city from 2020 where there were several streeteries. All gone now despite being legalized.

My city literally purchased a building to prevent housing from being built in order to preserve parking.

Can’t make this stuff up.
