On 16/08/2025, we gathered in Cardiff to commemorate the execution of Dic Penderyn for the role he played in the Merthyr Rising.

The following is an excerpt of the speech delivered by one of our comrades on behalf of Plaid Gomiwynddol Cymru and the Welsh Underground Network. ⬇️⬇️⬇️

The Abergele martyrs commemoration

On the 30th of June 2025, The Welsh Underground Network, Plaid Gomiwnyddol Cymru and independent republicans from a range of backgrounds attended the National Abergele Martyrs Commemoration. This annual event is not only an opportunity to commemorate our fallen comrades, but to renew and redouble our efforts to finally accomplish the goal they gave their lives in service of - The Welsh Republic. On the 30th of June 2025, The Welsh Underground Network, Plaid Gomiwnyddol Cymru and independent republicans from a range of backgrounds attended the National Abergele Martyrs Commemoration.

Plaid Gomiwnyddol Cymru are honoured to continue the commemoration of our national martyrs. For as long as the people of Wales can turn to the example of brave volunteers like Alwyn and George, our national movement will live on.

Even more worrying is the several instances in Canada where homeless people have been offered assisted dying ( will probably need to fact check this one ) - I guess I'm just incredibly worried about legalising social murder when we should be reformulating society as a whole to support those.

Assisted dying is understandably so an incredibly contentious issue - but all I can think about here is the increasing prevalence of chronic illness and debilitating long term sickness caused by COVID. The DWP is obviously looking to cut costs - and I can't shake the feeling of grim calculus at play

One such motivation from the "reformulation" of the Maori's relationship with the settler colonial entity could be the limiting of potential legal challenges to the expansion of extractive industries, with deep sea mining just being one area where profit will be extracted from ecological murder.
