Omg this is everything

A richly detailed Tibetan Buddhist thangka painting depicting the scene of Siddhartha Gautama's enlightenment. The Buddha sits serenely in meditation on a lotus pedestal beneath the Bodhi tree, encircled by an aura. Surrounding him are armies of demonic figures sent by Mara, shown charging with weapons, fierce expressions, and dramatic gestures, yet their attacks dissolve before reaching him. Above, deities and celestial beings emerge from clouds, sending beams of light toward the Buddha, symbolising divine support. The backdrop includes stylised mountains and swirling clouds, enhancing the cosmic and spiritual atmosphere of the moment.

I love this imagery: seeing Buddha meditating under a tree and about to achieve enlightenment Mara's army attacks. But such is the power of peaceful calm around Gautama that as arrows and spears approach they transform into flowers, and fall gently to the ground around Buddha. I reflect on it often.

Shout out to all the clinical ethicists doing the work, whether is conducting ethics consultations, holding hospital ethics committee meetings, drafting hospital policy grounded in ethical practices, or meeting with stakeholders to promote ethics in healthcare. 8/n

This moment changed my life forever. 7/n

That morning, he—along with the medical team—ensured that a patient declining on the vent from advanced disease would have his end-of-life preferences honored. The surrogate decision-maker had been appointed. Preferences had been documented. It would soon be time. 6/n

It is here that I learned about the importance of ethics in healthcare. My mentor was involved in drafting crisis standards of care, holding ethics consultations, re-drafting policy, scarce resource allocation, moral distress counseling, and leading ethics rounds. 5/n
