A few years ago, a cabinet minister of the government of Canada was forced to resign over a scandal of her own making. Her crime: a blatant disregard for taxpayers' money when she spent $16 for a glass of orange juice at a hotel while travelling on government business.

Oh, how times have changed.

I don't want to jinx it by saying it out loud, but after today's very frigid temps (was -20C this morning) the long term forecast in my area is above seasonal warm for the foreseeable future. Spring weather, but 2-3 weeks early. Maybe we slew the Winter Beast a bit early this year? (I'll take it.)

The Cuban Ground Hutia is a large-ish brown rodent with coarse fur a long hairy tail. This one is standing on a concrete floor holding a piece of dropped people food in its front paws while it chews. It's so homely, it's kind of cute.

Well that makes me feel better, knowing that I am the last person here to never have had a typo. :)

Kind of reminds me of these dudes who liked to beg food from the tourists in Cuba (cuban ground hutia). Like a beaver had a wild time with a rat.

This dude definitely did not miss many meals over the winter.

A large brown aquatic rodent (a beaver) is partially submerged as it rests on a submerged log just below the surface of the water. It has a slender green tree branch in its mouth. There is a small bit of ice on its back and nose.

This is my final image to share of this absolute unit of a Canadian Beaver from last spring, when the ice was just breaking on the beaver pond.
