I didn’t plan to run for office … Don’t get me wrong — I’ve always been politically engaged.

Many of these voters are independents who voted for Obama. We have to go talk to them. We need to listen to their concerns and tell them specifically how we are helping them. Also - read this post where I specifically talk about the Southern Strategy.

I don't disagree that democrats have delivered while Trump spews lies, hate, and filth - but just yelling this out doesn't change votes. We won't win if we don't message effectively.

MAGA are dismantling social programs and the implications of this are bad for everyone including Joe. But we can't ignore Joe and others like him and expect to win elections. We have to listen to his concerns and, to the extent possible, address them. Not in lieu of civil rights but in addition. 2/2

Thank you for this. I think we need to distinguish between absolute and relative fear. I'm certainly not arguing that what Joe is going through is worse than the black experience in America. But that doesn't mean he isn't relatively worse off than he was or that his fear is invalid 1/2
