( He offers Rin an easy smile. )

( He pauses in the middle of kneading dough, seeming to calculate something behind his innocent-looking eyes. )

“It’s quite alright! I’d rather you go help with something else, I’m fine with the waffles at the moment. Why don’t you help the other guy over there with preparing refreshments?”

( Kaito yells, coming comes out of nowhere again. He faces where the tables had just once been banging. )

”Ah… uh, I’m just taking a wild guess, but could your favorite food be Steak by any chance? Is that what you wish to see cooked for you?“

( He waltzes off to the kitchen, reveling in the feel of his new accessory on his head. )

( He yelps at the brush of the hat against his cheek and stares at the white piece of fabric as it flutters to the ground. Eagerly, he picks it up and jams it on his head; it looks comically askew on top of his unruly blue hair. )

“Gotta go get to making desserts~!”

“I still have to get to making dessert for everyone, but if it wouldn’t take too long, why not! Just remind me to go back to my original task at hand if I forget. I forget a lot. Yikes!”

( At first Kaito thought this guy was speaking Japanese, but he couldn’t understand a word of it. He smiled nervously, and asked again, in english: )

“Pardon?”

“That’s great! Okay, so first we actually need to find coffee. And ice. And whipped cream… Oooh, I sure hope the pantries have enough of those…”

( His features light up with the usual amount of excitement. )

“That’s great! Thanks, Kai! I’ll get started right away~”

( He skips off to the pantry, a spring in his step, to begin finding ingredients. Eggs, flour, sugar… )

“Hmmmm…”

( He goes over to the other side of the great hall again and hefts a suitable weapon from its holder on the wall. Then he goes back to the doors again. )

“Let’s try this—!”

( He throws his entire body weight and the weapon at the door in an attempt to burst through by brute force. )

( If anyone strolled into the pantry now, they would find Kaito humming what sounds like a cheerful tune, hovering between the shelves looking for ingredients he could use to bake dessert for a room of about sixty people. He hoped they would all like his waffles! )
