Day 60 and 1699 lost gloves with just two days of the season to go. No daily updates now, the total for the 2025-26 Season will be announced on Monday 2nd Feb to maintain a little lost glove tension. At the moment it’s our 3rd best season but we could very easily slip into 4th place. #glovewatch

Day 59 and it’s 1663 lost gloves. In the year 1663 The English Parliament passed the second Navigation Act, requiring that all goods bound for the American colonies had to be sent in English ships from English ports. Tariffs anyone? #glovewatch

Day 58 and 1633 lost gloves. Just four days of the 25/26 Season left. On June 22nd 1633 the Inquisition forced Galileo to recant his view that the Earth orbited the Sun. That’s still contentious for the flat earthers out there #glovewatch

Day 57 and 1611 lost gloves with six days left of the season. In the year 1611 English explorer and sea captain Henry Hudson, his teenage son John, and seven crewmen were set adrift in or near Hudson Bay, after a mutiny on his ship Discovery. They were never seen again so keep your eyes open today

Day 57 and 1592 lost gloves. In the year 1592 the date on the Julian calendar was advanced by 10 days in order to synchronize the calendar date back to the equinoxes and solstices. Blimey, I can’t cope with the hour changing. #glovewatch

Day 55 and 1574 lost gloves. In the year 1574 Prince Murad bin-Selim of the Ottoman Empire completed the murders, by strangulation, of his four younger brothers, SΓΌleyman, AbdΓΌllah, Osman, and Cihangir. Must have been an odd Christmas

Day 53 and 1516 lost gloves. In the year 1516 the predecessor of the Royal Mail, known as the Master of the Posts, was established by Henry VIII of England. Little did they know what was on the β€˜horizon’

Day 52 and 1477 lost gloves. In the year Martin Truchsess von Wetzhausen was elected as the new Grand Master of the Teutonic Knights to succeed the late Heinrich Reffle von Richtenberg as ruler of a few territories in Prussia. So there you go #glovewatch

ECtHR 'more necessary and relevant' now, says outgoing UK judge Leading silk says he 'hardly recognises' the good work of the ECHR from recent criticism of Strasbourg court.

The outgoing UK judge at the European Court of Human Rights, Tim Eicke KC: "We can be certain that over the last 70 years, the convention has repeatedly stepped in when domestic courts were unable to provide the protection we now take for granted and cherish."

Years ago I went to Oldenburg as part of strengthening cultural ties & they presented me with bicycle bell - I didn’t have a bike. I was lucky to meet some fabulous people. Fast forward & it’s been on my handlebars for a while and today I just thought, β€˜what did they know that I didn’t.’

Just had my three monthly transplant consultation. All went well and apparently I have β€˜the blood pressure of a teenager’. So, if you see some kid with a red face struggling to get up tell them I’ve got their blood pressure

This is what the pro-Brexit argument has been reduced to now: "I like being able to needlessly inconvenience myself. Why are you taking it away from me?"

I poured boiling water into the mug with tea bag and went to get a teaspoon. Ended up rearranging the cutlery draw. Finally went back to slightly like warm tea with … not teaspoon. Ladies and Gentlemen, welcome to my brain (and some days you are indeed welcome to it)

If it wasn’t for photographic evidence you could almost believe that Monday night’s Cheese Club was just a dream (or nightmare). Great songs created and a engineering miracle to carry the Gherkin of Truth over the Bridge of Lies or Aqueduct of Apathy. Thanks to all the Fromagartists

ANGER OVER THE CREEPING BETRAYAL OF BREXIT FREEDOMS.

Daily Express front page today. ANGER OVER THE CREEPING BETRAYAL OF BREXIT FREEDOMS.

β€œThe Chancellor sparked anger when she revealed that govt wants to enable young people from Europe and UK to work and travel overseas”

FFS.
What β€˜Brexit freedom’ exactly is being betrayed here?
The freedom to NOT be free to work and travel overseas?

One of the stupidest front pages I’ve ever seen.

Great bit of punditry in the Newcastle versus Ipswich match. The comment was β€˜you see how well Ipswich have stifled Isak. We’ve hardly mentioned him. In fact have you noticed how often we haven’t mentioned him.’
