I’m looking to place my reporting from the Donbas - if you are an editor looking for a reported feature on the IDP crisis in Eastern Ukraine then HMU.

Also available for podcasts and such.

Is "deliverism" dead? Lawrence gave his first take on Iran at the weekend and will return to it later this week.

What is "deliverism"? Is it dead? And what would its death mean for progressive politics?

This essay (kindly published by @samfr.bsky.social) is my attempt to trace five years of trans-Atlantic debates, to set out what I see as the stakes, and to analyse where these arguments have now gotten to:

In Kryvyi Rih we only had power for about 3 hours: below zero outside, no heating inside. So all my clothes on when in bed!

Evolution of Viktor OrbΓ‘n's government propaganda:

2017: β€œLet’s not let Soros have the last laugh!”

2026: β€œLet’s not let Zelensky have the last laugh!”

By the way, can anyone guess the common feature that makes both such convenient scapegoats for a far-right government?

And THEY WILL NOT ACT AS A DETERRENT.

I didn’t vote Labour to get an even stupider migration policy than we had under the Tories.

Shabana Mahmood scraps permanent refugee status Change enters effect from Monday as home secretary pushes ahead with immigration overhaul despite fears of a rebellion from Labour MPs

These reforms are cruel and stupid: they increase uncertainty in an already vulnerable population, they prevent people from integrating and building a future, and they will cost time & money the government doesn’t have

Ukrainian couple find love during bombardment as they searched for nine missing cats Konstantin Alokhin and Natalya Zolotarenko met in Kharkiv when her cats went missing during the early days of the conflict

You can read it here. Please remember her and all the other victims of Russia’s awful and relentless war against the people of Ukraine.

I interviewed a mother whose daughter died in this strike. She was an incredibly brave and beautiful young woman - a maths genius with a bright future. She didn’t ever get to see that future.

March 1 marks the fourth anniversary of the cruise missile strike on the Kharkiv Regional State Administration building. At the time of the attack, territorial defense fighters, military personnel, and volunteers were inside.

The strike killed 44 people and wounded another 15.

I am seeing people in Dubai tweeting about how normal things are today, shops being open etc – which is great and I am glad you are safe (I have family there too). It isn't that unexpected tho? Cities in Ukraine operate fairly normally despite hundreds more strikes a day.

I didn’t know Paul Conroy personally but so sad to hear of his death, at too young an age. His bravery and determination to show the reality of war, and to platform the voices of its victims, was vital in getting the truth out. Rest in power.

I am devastated to learn that my dear friend, my brother in arms, Paul Conroy has gone on to the next life.

He was one of the bravest men I have ever known. I can barely believe it, we only spoke yesterday.

His loss will be felt profoundly by us all.

Rest in peace @reflextv.bsky.social

I’m appalled by this from the Mail. Ugly, straightforward racism, and amplifying the spurious claim of its favoured candidate (even the Reform party chair said last week that any irregularities wouldn’t have changed the result).
