I don't like how every time I try one of those open world anime gacha games, I am eventually met with a character who looks like a child in a bikini or some other revealing outfit.

It is so hard. I do not blame anyone struggling with getting a licence, or even getting started with it.

Every time I have sat down in a driver's seat I feel like vomiting from how overwhelming it is.

I know so many people with ADHD or Autism go through their entire life without being able to pass their test, so I was honestly preparing for the worst.

The term "RPG" is too dilluted to be used in any meaningful way.
I only used the term because the review used it.

What I actually mean are open world games with character creation, choices and consequences.

If it comes with any in-game items, it is basically a 50 USD microtransaction....

Does it come with any in-game bonuses? Is it a 50 USD microtransaction?

Does RPGs need to stand out in the RPG genre?

Surely an RPG just being a good RPG is more than enough for starving RPG fans.

I don't make myself either, but I need some similarities.

I have very long hair IRL and it has been a part of my identity for most of my life. I only play characters with long hair. (this also means I skip games without CC and without a long haired protag)

I create a character I like the appearance of. Be it cool, cute or otherwise appealing.

But they must have some relateable traits. i.e. I have long hair IRL so they must too.

Then I write a character sheet with personality, background, etc. and try to stay in character.

Likewise. I often make the observation when reading Otome Isekai that the story would have worked just as well as a time travel story.

I have no idea why my favourite OI [I shall master this family] is both.

I need to look into this more because all I have as a source is 1 guy who lives in Japan.

I was told that cooking is a relatively common skill for NEETs to have in Japan, so making it the protagonist's special skill is kind of like telling NEETs "Hey, if you were isekaied, you would be useful".

Parents disliking their child until a reincarnator takes over their body is not unusual in Otome Isekai. But I think most stories and readers gloss over how horribly sad that is.

A food themed isekai I actually think is good is [Gensou Gourmet].

Most food isekai are all about Japanese Exceptionalism. Showing superior Japanese cooking to the barbarous European Medieval fantasy peasants.

I appreciate that Gensou Gourmet is about experiencing food from the isekai world.

Yeah, I was surprised by how unproblematic it is.

It isn't amazing by any means, but just the fact that the protagonist doesn't buy slaves already puts it above a lot of isekai..

Oh yeah, I can absolutely relate to the car thing.

I get nauseous from sitting in a car, so if people play music while driving, I will associate the music with nasuea...

I also can't tell heroes apart in those super hero things. I didn't learn who Spiderman was I was like 18-19...

The protagonist has so few defining traits, I am certain the author tried to make it so most readers can relate to him.

Huh. Weird. I have not heard of that either and I consider myself above average knowledgeable on WWII.

Perhaps we did learn about it in school, but it just doesn't sound as memorable in Norwegian "Blod og grunn".
