I also think that’s a great time for the person to stop and question “why did I chose that gender for them?” Like, I think a character feels more complete when you really understand them and then ask what gender expression and experience do they have that lends them that way.

Every single character of mine can do pretty fancy origami, I’ve discovered, even if they aren’t otherwise artistic. For some of them, they’ve just memorized the patterns and for other ones, they actually know how to make new patterns.

However, I agree, if you can’t consistently keep to they/them, it’s okay for your character to not be a they/them.

I don’t know if other people have found this, but occasionally, I’ll give a character they/them pronouns and if I find that I’m sometimes saying he and sometimes saying they, I wonder if maybe that’s because I was wrong about the character’s gender and their actually they/he or he/they.

I actually mean differently, more than anything else. A system that could use the character archetypes we find in D&D and run a high level battle with. Smoother and less complicated is great. More dramatic but more complicated is also great!
