I met some of the developers at PAX East 2014 or 2015 (or maybe both?) and at sone point we realized we were all from Rochester. So I started wondering, why don’t we have a game convention?

So congrats on the anniversary Workinman/Bread Machine! I’m going to fire up some Deathstate in your honor!

Can’t believe I almost missed this, but Deathstate is a huge part of #ROC game dev history!

Not only is it a great roguelike… not only did it do single-stick shooting years before Vampire Survivors… but it was also part of the inspiration for #ROCGameFest!

Did you try Darkrise at #ROCGameFest? The developers recently uploaded a new version of the demo to Itch!

Well now I just want to see it more!

Our friends at Anomaly Film Fest have posted their 2025 lineup and it looks like a doozy!

They all look interesting, but 👀 It Ends 👀 really has my attention.

Too bad, I always wanted to try the arcade version.

But one of my favorite finds at a game store was picking up a Dreamcast, a copy of Typing of the Dead, and two keyboards for like $40.

Is this local?

I’ll never forget my favorite teacher in high school telling a group of us that a song just *sounds better* when you hear it randomly on the radio.

27 years later and he’s still right. I even still remember the song we were talking about (Cornershop’s “Brimful of Asha”).

Always happy to see new game conventions pop up!

Tabulating the results from #RocGameFest 2025, here were the most popular player classes (measured by number of ribbons taken)

1. The Skellyman Scoundrel!
2. The Dinoman Bruiser
3. The Fairy Wizard
4. The Human Crusader

Step 1 = Obtain a time machine

Step 2 = Travel back to 2007

Step 3 = Visit Skippy’s and order a Buffalo tempeh sandwich

Step 4 = If I’m with you, make sure I don’t Timecop myself walking to the register because if it’s dinnertime in 2007 I’m probably at Skippy’s.
