Had an ic9700 but found the 847 much better on vhf UHF so still have the 847 and sold the 9700 ,cannot beat old skool radios ,hf abit duff tho but did manage a qso into China on 50watts

Racal push up 12m mast,great for my lightweight cobweb and only 1.5m radius on the guy ropes ,has greatly improved what I can hear
