Weekly family shop done. Cycle parking right outside the entrance of my local Lidl, the high is great. Sadly, though, I only do the shop by bike if I'm going early in the morning, otherwise the route there is too horrific to contemplate 😏

A bizarre road and footway layout whereby the footway gets narrower and narrower before finishing abruptly, with no dropped kerbs to enable a wheelchair user or visually impaired person to continue safely.

Quite incredible that anyone ever thought this was ok!
Luckily, active travel funding is going to sort it out. Active travel and accessibility go hand in hand 💪

Like my local motor lobby group, I expect many of the members of that Facebook group are there as bemused observers rather than fully on board with the cause....

It doesn't sell papers, or ad space, or generate clicks. But for the benefit of my own mental health I have been trying to focus much more of my attention on the good news stories, the decent people, those making a positive difference to our communities in their own little ways.

Absolutely! There's a main road near me that I've been studying closely, and two minor side roads which join it are a major cause of disruption to the big signal junction nearby. People being "nice" and letting people out of the side roads makes the traffic back up through the lights.

A favourite around here is "make the traffic lights more efficient so the traffic flows better" (as if the signal junctions aren't already operating beyond capacity and "tweaked" to the max...) 🙄

Is that the wearing course? I know it's a close up but the asphalt looks pretty ropey too!

It's funny how the people campaigning for more low traffic neighbourhoods are usually the only people campaigning for changes to main roads too! 🤨

See my gut instinct was that the yellow tactiles, without the L, makes more sense...Would potentially save money as some side road junctions already have these. Not that cost is the most important factor. I'd be interested to see what VI people think about this.

It would be fairly straightforward to allow emergency vehicles over the bridge but not general traffic, if that's what they're really worried about....

I don't know but it always amuses me to see people on the treadmill or static bike at the gym 🤔
