His lack of self-awareness never ceases to astound me.

Halifax city government is decidedly not real. Not only does the province not let Halifax set its own speed limits, a bill last year gave them power over transportation, and a bill they’re trying to pass now would give the province more power over land use, and decision-making power over sprawl

There's a difference between feeling unsafe and uncomfortable.

MLAs are not unsafe in Province House. Closing down the second floor to the public is a cowardly move. They did it because some of the MLAs feel uncomfortable with the cuts, and won't admit it.

I see parallels between magical thinking about taxes (“we should only tax the rich”) and magical thinking about housing (“we should only build affordable housing”)

That curb cut is killer

Tony Mancini’s “we don’t make fleet beg for fuel, so we shouldn’t make the libraries beg for their collections” line has been stuck in my head.

Buying less single-use fuel was in no way shape or form up for discussion in all those austerity talks.

With the province cutting grants to organizations that support adults with disabilities, many of these organizations are looking at cuts to programming for those who need it.

The province says the funding will now go to the individuals instead of organizations.

Oh my goodness. I’m so sorry for your loss. I did not know her, this happened in an intersection I cross at all the time, about a year after we bought our house in Spryfield. Such a tragedy. 😔

Apparently the same collision. The driver left the scene and the pedestrian who was hit didn’t call the police, they eventually just left as well, but someone else reported it. The cops & the pedestrian have apparently connected now
