Inspired by a piece of real user feedback.

Most of my time savings come from Strategic No's.

No to prioritizing mono-repo -> Cursor starts supporting multi-repo.

No to prioritizing in-app purchases -> Opus 4.5 designs it better than any model yet.

If something feels premature, listen to that.
Tooling might solve it for you.

Ah, thank you! And couldn't agree more! Systems, experiments, iterations... so many aspects transfer right on over.

Takeaways:
- People will always be behind
- Build gentle nudges
- Check your data — there’s gold in the dust

I told myself volume was too low to bother.
Turns out… every signal counts.

Stay diligent. Stay curious. Stay proactive my friends.

Web dev spoiled me.

I checked my iOS session replays after a few weeks and it felt like Night at the Museum.

Users on ANCIENT builds.

iOS updates at its own leisurely pace.

More related to your point - I really want to make sharing stories feel better. Thinking a quick win to test is public links with previews. Sharing a story from Supalific can be really rewarding but it’s a lot to drop into a text message. It’s also better read on a purpose-built experience.

Totally agree with you, James! We don’t want sign ups for signups sake!

Next up is a potentially premature in app purchases implementation. I just keep finding the lack of it creating more excuses in me for bigger goals, and I think more often than not teams add it in too late.

Finally went and canceled a ton of AI subscriptions. Was getting out of hand.

Now I’m down to Gemini, Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, Lovable, Bolt, Perplexity, N8N, Mistral, Copilot, Grok, Tesla FSD, and Spinach.

Ya just can’t beat this lean combo.

100%! Our products don't get traction by themselves!

Way to make it happen, Mira!

Getting outside of the skillset comfort zone was one thing I was most excited about with indie, but it took a while to really get into the swing of it!

Yesterday I ripped up my onboarding to actually feel magical in the first 30 secs.

Old flow: email verify → promises → settings → slog.

New flow: land on Moment input + new Story Sparks - 3 instant story directions the second you save it.

Feels way better already. Curious how people react.

Does your product nail the #30SecondMagicChallenge

Probably not-I just made that up

But creating a magical moment within a new users first 30 seconds-thats the bar to strive for. Im sold

Does my product hit it? Absoluuutely not

Will it by the end of the day? Lets go

a single painful user session gave me more truth than months of assumptions.

Your product doesn't need more features.

It needs fewer blindspots - a solid core.

I used to think the only good stories in my life were the ones where wild things happened

But all the tiny moments where we realize something, those make great stories, too

These happen every single day

I love that bc more stories = more connection

The moments that shape us rarely look meaningful as they’re happening.

We often only realize their weight once they’ve passed.

whiteboard filled with planning for experiential rework

whiteboard filled with planning for experiential rework

Back to work(flow):
1. iMessage feedback → whiteboard
2. Whiteboard → voice memo
3. Voice memo → transcription
4. Transcription → AI summary
5. AI summary → Linear tasks
6. Tasks → Prioritized + delegated to agents

Next time: polish less, ask more questions 😁

Thanks to agentic development, reworking the experience was a cinch.

If I’d hand-written all the code, the mental gymnastics to keep it would’ve put Cirque du Soleil to shame.

04.09.2025 21:49 — 👍 0    🔁 0    💬 1    📌 0

Then the feedback came in:

> The image generation felt unnecessary.

Boom. Weight lifted. Bye Felicia. Or more specifically, bye Monet Memory generator 🗑️🖼️🔥

04.09.2025 21:49 — 👍 0    🔁 0    💬 1    📌 0

But with this came many new challenges.

- Long processing times to maneuver experientially
- Potential inaccuracies and poor first impressions.
- Cost (~4 cents an image!) #DoThingsThatDontScale

I started to lose sight of the core flows and mission because of this enhancement.

04.09.2025 21:49 — 👍 0    🔁 0    💬 1    📌 0

With just the first 3, the experience felt awfully text-heavy (like this thread!)

So I added visuals. And I miiiight’ve overinvested.

But it was a ton of fun molding it to my liking! Wouldn't it be nice if we no longer had to pull out our cameras in the moment?

04.09.2025 21:49 — 👍 0    🔁 0    💬 1    📌 0

Quick context - the product lets you:
1. Capture a written moment
2. Dig deeper into it
3. Build a story around it
4. Generate a visual of it

But one piece of feedback changed the game for me.

1 feedback = 1 rewrite.

Last week I kicked off a product beta.

Intentions going in:
- No expectations on outcomes
- Be hyper-curious
- Don’t overthink a single piece of feedback

Stoked to learn, fail, and grow on this exploration for viability. Shoutout to my peeps joining in on the action 🫶🏻

I've got a few spots left for extra-special takers interested 😁

Launching my first beta feels good! Self-imposed deadlines, milestones, and daily/weekly goals really help, especially with #Linear. Yup, it even slays for personal use.

I remember my first marketing blast.

Pretty well, actually. It was 10 minutes ago. With perhaps the smallest contact list #HubSpot has ever seen.
