I think it has to be something who has an air of the disreputable about them, but yet is still charming? In the books, he's definitely more of an anti-hero. Matthew Rhys maybe?

Is there anything creepier than those AI Then vs Now TV cast videos where the dead actors have angel's wings?

Yes, I'm still watching reruns of The Office while the world is on fire - and this is why When the headlines feel unbearable, is turning on a sitcom a cop-out or a way of keeping sane?

As the planet heads towards catastrophe, is it a cop-out to be watching old episodes of The Office? My latest article… #TheOffice www.radiotimes.com/tv/comedy/th...

Did you read the article where I talk about 4K Bluray ownership and the LA Times? I'm talking in my piece about physical media, however that evolves.

It was always the most imaginatively brutal crime drama back in the day. Favourite episdoes: The Killing Philosophy (crossbow murderer), Fatal Inheritance (Taggart stays at a health farm).

The end of the shared TV experience? Why streaming's power grab should worry viewers The fight for Warner Bros Discovery risks television becoming a gated empire of elites.

The revolution on the shelf? Why physical media still matters in the age of streaming TV Owning television is more than just nostalgia – it’s a cultural statement in an era of easy access via streaming and digital downloads.

I wrote this after seeing a load of Star Trek VHS tapes in a charity shop #StarTrek www.radiotimes.com/tv/sci-fi/ph...

The fact that Young Sherlock in this new Amazon Prime series makes a friend of his future enemy Moriarty makes me think that an idea or two might have come from Smallville. #YoungSherlock

With conspiracy culture now weaponised, can a revival of The X-Files really work today? What hope is there for Mulder and Scully in our current paranoid culture?

With 5 repeating The X-Files tonight, I've written about why a revival may not work given that conspiracy culture has now been weaponised. #TheXFiles

Goodbye, Rob Grant – the Red Dwarf co-creator who found the laughs in loneliness Paying tribute to the man who brought solace to a generation of sci-fi loving misfits.

My own small tribute to Red Dwarf co-creator Rob Grant #RedDwarf www.radiotimes.com/tv/sci-fi/ro...

27.02.2026 14:18 β€” πŸ‘ 31    πŸ” 13    πŸ’¬ 3    πŸ“Œ 2

The genius of #RedDwarf, particularly the early series and that first book, is that it captured so perfectly a sense of existential loneliness. And, in so doing, made so many of us who were adrift, feel less alone. That's why I'll always be thankful for the imagination of Rob Grant and Doug Naylor.

Red Dwarf - observation dome (Music Cue)
YouTube video by Duane Dibbley (The duke of dork) Red Dwarf - observation dome (Music Cue)

Ah his music was just great. There's one piece of incidental music of his from Red Dwarf that I just love too. I think of it as the 'sad music': www.youtube.com/watch?v=OnfS...
