And, in meeting with the Minister last week, we talked through these challenges, and I also reiterated #NewWest support for speed and intersection cameras, and offered McBride Avenue as a location where automated enforcement could save lives in the short term!

Pete Fry just tried to call into a public hearing as a speaker before he was cut off by legal and they went into recess?? I've never heard of this happening before, that doesn't seem appropriate at all.

I’m feeling very sorry for myself today. It doesn’t feel fair that I’m sitting at home in a great deal of pain with a shattered wrist, waiting another week for surgery, while the guy who did this to me is out there just living his life, probably barely giving me a second thought. 1/

When London Drugs Gastown closed, ABC professed alarm about the loss of this important retail anchor for workers, neighbours, and residents. "One of the most affordable stores in the DTES."

Today they voted to replace it with a VPD training centre, which will be a retail location for... nobody.

Safe street advocate hit by car on way home from advocacy meeting Rhiannon Fox, a vocal advocate for safer streets, was left with a broken wrist last week after a driver tried to overtake her on the left while she turned left on an e-scooter in Vancouver.

Rhiannon Fox was on her way home from meeting with city officials about how to reduce danger from cars on Friday when she was hit by a car.

Thanks to the City of Vancouver for inviting us as stakeholders for the Vision Zero plan refresh.

A lot of very positive items that will absolutely make a difference! The question remains whether there's the political capital and budget to get it done. (Probably not with this council)

5. Goodbye property tax deferral

You know how seniors were allowed to delay paying property taxes on their home with super cheap interest rates?

The province has changed it so interest rates are prime plus two per cent and compound monthly, eliminating it as a de facto investment fund

When BC's consumer carbon tax was first introduced, it was accompanied by tax cuts to both personal and corporate taxes to make it revenue-neutral. But when it was eliminated last spring, these tax cuts were not reversed. The result is a $2 billion hole in BC's finances. #BCBudget

Justin we love you but as a chart enthusiast you're too smart to post charts with arbitrary start points and linear trendlines. Here's a couple we made, with the same data, that shows traffic fatalities are on the rise!

But onto a more serious analysis of this 🧡

5 people have been killed on the roads in Metro Vancouver in the last week, including a driver, a cyclist, and 3 pedestrians, one of whom was a young child. Each of them had lives, families and friends, aspirations and potential that will not be realized. Each of them could have been me, or you.
