A woman with long locs and glasses sits at a desk, resting her chin on her hand and smiling slightly at the camera. Behind her, a large computer monitor displays a webpage titled β€œSupporting neurodivergent children,” alongside an image of children holding hands outdoors. On the desk are notebooks, papers, and stacked books, suggesting a home office or workspace.

Today was the launch of the @theopenuniversity's "Supporting Neurodivergent Children" hub for which I contributed to toolkit giving parents tools and rights advice. Check it out at www.open.ac.uk/courses/choo....

Can't do much better than this really. A more interesting question is why people find it surprising.

Lots of people citing Starmer's various terrible decisions under this post but not sure anyone has recognised the damage he has done to children with additional needs and mental health issues with the parental blame and attendance policies he has enforced.

Neoliberal austerity in universities has definitely made us way more vulnerable to attacks.

The OU is addictive, isn't it?! I started my undergrad in '04, finished that, got two masters with them and I'm five years into my EdD. I also started lecturing with the OU in 2017. Also I did my MA creative writing dissertation involved a comparison of The Power and Who Fears Death ☺️

Hey a thing I really don’t want to get lost here is that while Tylenol doesn’t cause autism, IT’S FINE TO BE AUTISTIC. Let’s not grant them the premise that autism should be eradicated in our way to correct the science, okay? Okay.

Last Friday, we lost our dear friend, @sareetadomingo.bsky.social. I wrote about the immense loss I feel in the following post: www.linkedin.com/posts/mel-gr.... I am still reeling and thinking deeply about her and her family. She was a beautiful soul and wonderful friend.

Diagram titled 'Possible causes of your problems'. On the left hand side, subtitled 'Yes': Funding removed from local councils, growing gap between rich and poor, multinational companies not paying their taxes, lack of new affordable housing, government not investing sufficiently in schools and healthcare. On the right hand side, subtitled 'No': Picture of small boat, with arrow; 'People fleeing horrific situations that you and I can't imagine'.

Possible causes of your problems. It’s a diagram that (sadly) still seems relevant in 2025, so reposting a year and a bit on.

I pre-ordered straight after I read the sentence that ended with ..."sense of wonder at the cosmos from a Black feminist perspective". This genuinely looks like a book I didn't know I needed but that I must have. So exciting!

I know genocide supporting ghouls lack empathy so I want them to imagine this was their neighbourhood. Islington maybe. The house you own - gone. Your neighbours - dead. The businesses where you met friends for coffee or brought food - destroyed

Check out my latest article, which explores how vocal accent, a seemingly auditory construct, reinforces the problematic idea that race is simply something we see.

It is open access, so there is no excuse not to read it:
