Easy repair for this wooden lamp base, top section has some damage (it was me) off to the lathe, the idea is to remove the damaged section, make a joining point for a new top, made of mahogany like the rest of the lamp

If you don't like spiders look away, quite a large one, and it stayed still while I took pictures, we get loads of these in the autumn, they have a habit of spinning their webs across the garden paths at face height.

A couple of projects are almost complete, 2 lamps have been refinished the larger one has nice folk style carvings the other is a small mahogany lamp, I've also been trying to convert some more frames into box frames.

I've seen quite a few clocks of this type about, most are not working this one is, dates to between 1939 to 1950, mains powered, this version has a telltale that rotates at 15 second intervals, keeps perfect time, a lovely little Smiths mantle clock.

THis hour glass was produced in partnership with the National maritime historical society and Franklin mint to commemorate 125 years of the Cutty Sark, it is very decorative and reminds me of Jules Verne stories like 20,000 Leagues Under The Sea #steampunk #julesverne

A curious and interesting sculpture, not sure what it is meant to represent, to me I see a bird, a fish, maybe a whale, and from certain angles it reminds me of a piece of cloth in the wind, I guess that is why art is objective.

Recently acquired some boxes for repurposing, 2 are old opticians boxes, they would have held lenses for eye tests, probably from 1960 ish, the darker the box is older, around 1940s I've fixed the cracks in the wood, the finish needs some work.

Pleased with the finish on this little desk, made of Elm, it's small size suggests it was used for small children in a school, the desk is around 100 years old still useful as a desk for a child, a hall table with handy storage.

Finished the cake stand I was making, it's not too bad and is made from reclaimed oak, size wise it's at the limit of what I can turn on my lathe at 29cm (11.5 inches) across, as it's oak it's heavy (1.5kg)
