Photos of the Ruby-throated hummingbird taken in our Jersey City backyard. This plant is Lobelia cardinalis and favored for its tubular red flowers and nectar. We have this growing in a planter and it’s nearly 4ft tall. See more on Instagram @kimcorrero

Years ago this building was demolished. Now it is an urban pollinator garden with vibrant native plants in NJ. It is a crucial, protective habitat for wild birds & insects needing sustenance. Nature advocacy will be an uphill slope for a while. Creating wildlife habitat is more important than ever.

If you are an ecological gardener planting native plants, use signage to let your neighbors know what you are doing. In most cases they will want to follow along as soon as they start seeing the butterflies.
