His booming voice, his big hugs, boisterous political debates, the joy he had teaching his grandkids new skills and about life - lessons on hard work, showing up and doing the right thing. I miss him every day. We love you Papa Bill.🧡

Yesterday marked a year since my dad passed away. I’m so grateful to my friend who gave this to me after his death, because every time rainbows sine across room I smile and remember my dad.

Check out CSUN’s Valera Nest, a new space to help students access the support they need, including a food pantry, meals, clothing & housing support. I was a struggling student myself, which is why I fought to secure $6 million in state funding to help this project come to life. Check it out!

Our recent fight to protect veterans from predatory claims sharks - which we won despite the huge amount of money on the other side - was one of the hardest of my career in the legislature. So glad we were able to deliver for veterans across the state and so grateful for this honor.

As the daughter and sister of veterans, and the Chair of the Military and Veterans Affairs Committee, I am so honored to have received this award from the Veterans Caucus of the CA Dem Party.

My dad was always teaching us something. He loved his family. Loved, skiing, the mountains, and music. He instilled a strong sense of justice, being grateful for what you have, hard work, and fighting for everyday people. I hear him and miss him every day.

This #VeteransDay holds a special significance for me. It’s my first one without my dad — a Vietnam Veteran who, like many, came home carrying the invisible wounds of war. He battled cancer three times because he fixed planes spraying Agent Orange. He passed away earlier this year.
