I can't imagine that you knew the ripples your example would have, only that it was the best way you knew how to live.

Today makes nine years since I married my best friend. Without your example, I don't know that I would have known so confidently that she was the one I would be able to love for the rest of my life.

I'm so thankful for the example you set. You showed me what a marriage full of playful teasing and laughing looks like. You taught my dad and me what it means to respect the women in our lives. And you lived by what mattered most: her > family > everything else

I think a dark photo often conveys mystery and creates subjectivity. It doesn't reveal everything, allowing the imagination to fill in gaps. I think this can make a photo more relatable by allowing each viewer to experience the photo through a filter of themselves and their experiences.

Shorter days means less time for photography. Or does it?

Dark photos are something I took a lot more of when I was first getting back into photography. Partially because I was learning to properly expose a photo while only shooting on film, but also because

These last couple weeks have been so much fun, bouncing between different jobs and projects. Photographing Bonkonomics was certainly a highlight—and my first concert gig.

This isn't difficult because I'm fairly excitable when it comes to engaging with people while I have a camera in hand. I've been told this way of working won't be sustainable which is only more motivation for me to make it work.

It's not an uncommon struggle for an artist to find a balance with "performing" their art on demand for pay. My balance, so far, has come by seeking work with subjects that excite me.

To have someone in your life like that is such a privilege. I try to find ways to fall in love with what I photograph, but I'm lucky enough to also have someone in my life where that comes without any effort.

They quickly got along, despite her initially not wanting him, or anyone else, to join on the trip.

I don't recall exactly what the plaques at the museum quoted Hugo as saying, but I do remember something along the lines of how inspired he was by her and how it was near impossible...

Since learning about Jane Goodall's first husband, Hugo van Lawick, at her exhibit last November at the Natural History Museum of Utah, I've deeply identified with him.

He and Jane first met at the start of her Gombe project with National Geographic. ...
