05.03.2026 22:41 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0Yeah, pretty much where I am right now is "very pissed at the four Dems who tanked it and redoubled in my resolve to vote every Republican out of office at every level of government so we have a big enough Dem majority that four (or eight, or 12) defectors can't tank anything."

Yes, you are allowed to feel maximum schadenfreude at this abject humiliation Trump just dealt to Noem.

The job requirement Kristi failed at most bigly was "Don't say or do stupid shit that embarrasses the administration" and Trump just picked a replacement who's likely to break that rule multiple times in his first 24 hours on the job.

...that leads her to commit suicide by self-immolation, and suddenly you can't be in Congress anymore? What's the world coming to?

Cancel culture is getting out of control. I mean, you have one little sexual affair with an employee, you text-bomb her with demands for "sexy pics" and graphic descriptions of sex acts, then you break it off and black-sheep her at the office, driving her into a depression...

...whether it was worth it to even try to find common ground with the NRA. From that point on, Dems knew it would be a fruitless exercise, so why even bother?
That's the path AIPAC seems to be going down now.

...they could work with the NRA. That's when it became clear that no matter how hard any Dem tried to placate them, they'd just back your GOP opponent in the next election no matter what.
It was, in a sense, liberating for Dems to know this, because now they were freed from ever wondering...

The bill failed. Two Dems who voted against it were Mark Pryor (D-AR) and Mark Begich (D-AK). And in the next election cycle in 2014, the NRA dropped millions of dollars in TV ads and direct mail *against* them anyway.
That was, I think the final wake-up call for any Dems who still thought...

...and the NRA became more and more of a GOP adjunct. The final breaking point, IMO, was after the Sandy Hook massacre in 2012. A few Dem senators bent over backwards to appease the NRA by voting against a modest background check bill sponsored by Joe Manchin (D-WV) and Pat Toomey (R-PA).

AIPAC is following the NRA.
I'm old enough to remember when the NRA worked both sides of the aisle. They were generally (at least, in my lifetime) more GOP than Dem, but they always had some prominent allies on the Dem side (John Dingell comes to mind).
Over time, though, that changed...

RFKjr hardest hit.

Think I might've found a way for us to get RFKjr out of the US government.
MIHA!
It's not just the gas you pump into your car. The price of diesel fuel affects everything that moves by truck or train. Groceries, consumer goods, cars, construction supplies and equipment -- look for price increases to start showing up everywhere.
05.03.2026 17:21 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0I think it was pretty widely known that he was going to retire. He just stayed in as a candidate until the eve of the filing deadline to freeze the field and clear the path for his hand-picked successor to win the nomination.
05.03.2026 17:05 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0I've assumed all along that Trump would eventually fire Noem and replace her with Tom Homan, who's been pretty transparently gunning for her job. Mullin would be an unforced error by Trump, IMO. Homan's savvier. But maybe Homan's comparative lack of theatrics is why Trump might want someone else.
