I'm also so thankful to everyone who wished me well. I'm, unfortunately, exhausted due to today's activities, but it's been my best birthday and I'm excited for future ones as well.

Today is my birthday! My family came from Alabama to celebrate it with me. It was an amazing day and I'm so thankful that they could come, come to the church Jessica and I attend, and be a part of me turning 31.

Tomorrow is my birthday! I've been doing a lot of writing lately but its been fictional stuff. Its been a lot of fun.

The Democratic party is DEEPLY divided, but it's hard to make meaningful note of those divisions until we see Democrats in office calling to end the careers of the fucking traitors who pulled this stunt.

The idea of a uniparty in any substantive meaning of the term has always been bullshit, but moments like this make it FEEL like there is a uniparty. This is going to encourage the apathetic nihilism and cynicism that has fucked the American people over and over. I'm livid.

To cave on this with 0 meaningful concessions from Republicans, no victories on healthcare, after the harm it has done to families (at specifically TRUMP's behest), and to give Republicans a real, full, unmitigated W on the tails of Republicans suffering a total L during the election is unthinkable.

Republicans are directly responsible for the shutdown. There's no argument that they are the architects behind it. And Trump's cruelty was a powerful argument Democrats could have used to nail him and strike a powerful blow to the Republican Party.

I deeply, powerfully dislike that the Democrats did the right thing initially and then caved, and gained no victories of note by doing so. The senators who caved have seemingly inflicted a tremendous amount of real harm and fear on the American people & gained nothing as far as I can tell in turn.

The Democrats caving is... a stunning tribute to their devotion to losing, as far as I can tell.
I do not know of a victory the Democrats attained by caving this way.
