The rules are a bit volatile I’d say, but the priority goes to active players, EDM got guys like Yakupov there.

Klingberg is a bit iffy, but the only guy you can replace him is somebody like Gavin Bayreuther.

Fairly moderate 6.5M cap hit for the next two years, he might be the only player that is *an upgrade* over Seguin.

With the cap projected to rise significantly in the coming years, yeah, they could definitely fit him in down the road as well.

Back to the reality though, I think Matt Dumba might be the money out candidate in a trade to improve the D-core, just like Anton Khudobin was in 2023.

I still like the idea of acquiring RHD like Carlo from Boston, giving BOS 1st round pick in 2025 (to stockpile talent) and Dumba to make $$ work.

I know, I know...ifs and buts, candy and nuts...

But imagine if Dallas re-signed Tanev instead of Dumba this summer (not that big of a cap difference anyway).

Lyubushkin might be perfect fit to pair with Bichsel on a 3rd pair, as there are raving reviews flying on Swiss gorilla from Cedar Park.

BOS might want to think about rebuild. If you offer them Nils Lunkdvist + picks, it may be a start.
