Achievement unlocked: I watched Reds (1981). Been curious about this one for a long time. Excellent.
It's 3 hours 15 minutes.Started it a few nights ago, finished it today.
I didn't realize that Diane Keaton and Jack Nicholson had acted together prior to Something's Gotta Give.
Good Chotiner interview (not the gotcha-kind) about Iran

I still donβt like Manic Pixie Dream Girl Betazoid, and the hologram girlβs speaking style (making her sβs into shβs) makes it hard to understand her.

Adam Chanler-Berat is always terrific, Steven Boyer is always madcap, David Turner was dryly hysterical, Rebecca Naomi-Jones was great as well.

I just watched a February 1989 episode of Newhart, and not ONLY did it have two references to Donald Trump, but it ALSO featured a 33-year-old Leslie Jordan in one scene.
Oh and it also had Dick meeting Merv Griffin.
I wish I understood this... what's the connection between Nero and capes or crusades?

This is not from a real episode, it's a marketing tie-in for the Hail Mary movie, but it's pretty funny, and I guess it worked because I'm posting it.

27.02.2026 14:23 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0When people say βthis word should have counted!β in NYT Spelling Bee, yes, theyβre usually right, but on the other hand an additional word would increase the number of points needed to get to Genius/Queen Bee, so it wouldnβt necessarily make that any easier.

26.02.2026 18:20 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Posting on social media is weird. I post many things that very few people besides myself - perhaps even zero - find interesting. I guess lots of us do this. For most of us, whether or not anyone acknowledges any particular post is a crapshoot. Yet we still do it. Why? Because humans like community.

Just wanted to note that I've finally been reading War and Peace! I started at the beginning of the month and I'm just over a third of the way through. I went with the Pevear and Volokhonsky translation, which has its fans and its critics. I'm not having any problems with it.
