Every single Democratic senator that votes to cave on this should be immediately ejected from the party, and the national party should immediately start running primary candidates in their districts.

Dems backed Trump into a corner where he’s advocating for starving Americans and hemorrhaging support. If they vote to let him off the hook in exchange for nothing it’s a cataclysmic failure. I know people are in pain but insulating Republicans from political consequences is not the answer.

I think @joshtpm.bsky.social’s description here is accurate. Their sadistic impulses are basically unrestrained at this point. One thing I talked about years ago was how, when Trump eventually perceived any real or imagined betrayal from his base, he would turn on them. I wonder if that’s happening.

The lengths to which Trump is going to try to withhold food from people is remarkable.

I have successfully forecast many things regarding Trump, but I never would have anticipated he would take an effort to withhold SNAP all the way to the Supreme Court—especially in advance of the holiday season.
