I've read about ZTF SLRN-2020 event where a star basically ate it's own planet. So I decided to try and depict this from a planet's perspective. It's atmosphere evaporating and getting ripped away by the star. #SciArt #spaceart #astronomy

A Furness Railway 115 class is seen backing onto his train at Vicarstown station, while he's in a foul mood. The coach at the head of the train can be seen with an anxious expression, as it seems to have taken notice of the engine's mood, and is hoping that he won't take his anger out on it, or any of the other coaches.

Haven't really posted anything with my Roblox models recently, though it's mainly because of my other hobbies, and the fact I'm hoping to get a new PC soon, since Windows 10 support is ending this Tuesday.

In the meantime, I figured I'd post a new screenshot anyways, as I think it's a bit overdue.

Ok so the power went out earlier this evening, promptly plunging our neighborhood into darkness, only for the power to return about 5 minutes later.

I have no idea what the hell even just happened, or why it happened lmao.

I’m a firm believer that we need to return to the ice giants. Both planets have only been visited by one spacecraft in the 1980’s, and there’s still a whole slew of things we don’t know about these giant, icy, pale blue marbles, and their systems of rings and moons.

Don’t you hate it when college and life drag you away from your hobbies, and whenever they don’t, you sometimes lack the motivation to even work on anything, and end up just procrastinate for no reason?

Yeah it’s annoying.

Today in 1979, Pioneer 11 passed Saturn, viewing the night side of the rings, giving humanity its first encounter with the planet and its moons. It would be followed by Voyager 1 in 1980 and Voyager 2 in 1981.

Saturn from Pioneer 11 as it approached on September 1, 1979, looking at the backlit side of the rings. While this wasn't an ideal angle for humanity's first Saturn flyby, Saturn was not a part of the mission at launch, and this was the only trajectory available using a gravity assist at Jupiter.

Giant planets orbiting red dwarfs are uncommon, as are hot Neptunes ("Neptunian desert"), as are exoplanets in polar orbits. On this painting, the host star "observes" its strange planet through a massive polar dark spot.

An artistic rendering of an aerial-esq view of the Earth, as it may have appeared during the Cambrian period, roughly around 500 million years ago. The prehistoric continent of Siberia and some of its surrounding islands, can just be seen near the lower-left, hiding beneath the clouds. As plants would not colonize land for at least another ~30 million years (not counting algae), there are no shades of green to help break up the dull, pale-tannish color of the Earth's barren landmasses.

It's been a while since I did a prehistoric Earth render hasn't it? It came to my attention earlier that my Cryogenian Earth uses outdated models of Earth's landmasses, so I plan to revamp it, as well as some other prehistoric Earths I've yet to show here.

In the meantime, here's Cambrian Earth:

Anyways this is Alice, a Furness engine who was loaned to help build the NWR, and a character that's based off that Shining Time Station concept, to change Edward's name and gender, that was ultimately shelved.

The image depicts the hypothetical planet Theia, which was invoked to have collided with Earth to form the Moon when the Solar System was young.

The planet is depicted as a temperate world with volcanic islands and even huge magma plume uplifts under the thick, hazy atmosphere.

Also in the image is a fictional depiction of the collisional history of the inner planets; the top of this diagram shows the surviving planets: Mercury, Venus, a fictional planet, Earth, Theia, Mars, and another fictional planet. The two fictional planets would later be ejected.

Theia: The Plot Device

Theia is commonly depicted as a generic airless planet with lava pools on its cratered surface...essentially the popular, outdated depiction of how Earth was when it was young. Here's my take on this hypothetical planet.

The Hadean Eon is the first eon in the history of Earth, spanning from around 4.5 to 4.0 billion years ago. This image depicts my current understanding of its evolution during the early stages of the Hadean Eon.

Towards the beginning of this eon, a Mars-sized protoplanet known as Theia impacted the proto-Earth, producing Earth and the Moon. This event likely melted the planet and creating a magma ocean.

During the magma ocean stage, Earth probably had a thick, Venus-like atmosphere of carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide, and nitrogen, and clouds of silicate and salt may have formed. The atmosphere is probably thick enough to scatter the majority of sunlight back to space, producing its pale appearance. The magma ocean took a few million years to solidify. Once this stage ended, water may have begun outgassing, and eventually rained down, forming a global ocean of liquid water.

The hot ocean stage featured a liquid water ocean under a thick carbon dioxide-nitrogen atmosphere not unlike Venus's, which enabled water to stay as liquid under surface temperature of 500 Kelvin. Higher up in the atmosphere, a layer of water clouds covered the entire planet, not unlike what is today seen on Venus. Interactions with liquid water gradually transformed carbon dioxide into carbonates, removing it from the atmosphere. After between 10 to 100 million years, most carbon dioxide had been removed.

With much of the carbon dioxide removed, the planet's surface temperature would have dropped to temperate levels, and glaciation is also possible. The Earth's crust and mantle were likely weak during this time, and such it may be that very little landmasses, if any, existed during this early time.

Terra (personification character) noted that due to the planet's geological activities, very little evidence remained from this eon. Much of what we understand about this time comes from theoretical modelings and comparison with other bodies in the Solar System.

Hadean Terra: Earth when it was young.

Very little rock remained to tell the story of what the Hadean Eon was like; what we know is mostly based on theories and meteorites.

On this very day 10 years ago, we humans got to see for the very first time, our solar system's former 9th planet and its system of moons up-close, after being enshrouded in mystery for roughly 85 years.

Happy 10th anniversary to New Horizons' encounter with Pluto!

Now I am aware that Ronald was depicted as an LNER Worsdell C6 in Mike's story, but I didn't realize that until I already started progress on the model. However, there aren't any HQ diagrams of the C6 (that I know of) that I could use, so I decided to just stick with the Raven C7 for him.

This was a bit of a risky move, given the last time I tried to make a 4-4-2 engine, but here is Ronald the Loaned Atlantic! (aka, @theburiedtruck.bsky.social's take on the green engine from Edward's Day Out)

So an idea for a short story came to my head while I was taking a shower a few days ago. I don't consider myself a writer by any means, but I'm hoping to see if I can try to develop this idea further, and to eventually adapt it in video format, as my first ever original story.
