The poster for psychomania shows a highly stylized motorcycle helmet on a skull. The title is at the top and the tagline at the bottom is "They gave new meaning to 'hell on wheels'"
Film #27! As Phil said while we were watching this, "they tried to make the wild ones and they accidentally made Lisztomnia." That's the vibes, (but with less sex than Lisztomania tbh). Bonkers good. #spookyfilmfest25

The poster for I saw the devil has two men in profile from the shoulders up on opposite sides of the poster, staring at each other. Between them but much further away a woman is visible. The title is beneath their chins, the "evil"in devil a different color so that it really stands out
Film #26! Very intense cat-and-mouse horror thriller with some unflinching performances and many nods to David Lynch. I liked it,but not for everyone. #spookyfilmfest25

The Neon Demon poster shows three beautiful young models all in deep pink lighting separated from each other by the sides of a neon triangle. They are all three white and staring at the camera and there is a general feeling of glitter.
Film #25! I LIKED THIS SO MUCH. Tbh when this came out I was lukewarm on Drive and I hadn't yet seen NWR's earlier stuff,so I skipped it. Maybe that was for the best, as I'm not sure I would have liked this as much then. Damn Jena Malone what. Also don't mess with Abbey Lee. #spookyfilmfest25

The poster for the film Ash which shows a woman on the left side and a man on the right side. They are in spacesuit helmets. Parts of their faces in the middle of the image are missing and there are tendrils connecting them. The name of the film is vertical in the middle over the tendrils. Everything around them is amorphous and red and swirly.
Film #24! Jump scare the movie? This didn't really work for me and I had to keep turning it off and watching other things because I was bored and sometimes annoyed. There were some nice elements, but overall I felt like I was watching a video game or a music video. #spookyfilmfest25

A poster for the 1987 film stage fright which shows a man in all black with a big owl mask over his head and neck. He is holding a bloody chainsaw.
Film #23! This was such bonkers fun. The less I say about it the better, so if you haven't seen it and you like 80s schlock (Italian variety) I can't recommend it enough and it's best to go in blind. All I'll say is Marilyn Monroe saxophone. #spookyfilmfest25

The poster for Stuart Gordon's 1986 movie From Beyond. It shows a man's face, sort of smiling, sort of grimacing. The left edge of his face is sort of smeared and elongated towards the bottom left. The tagline at the top says "Humans are such easy prey"
Film #22! Another rewatch, kinda, as I was surprised to see that the last 20-30 minutes seemed completely new to me. Had I never seen this all the way through? Who knows! A triumph of weirdness, with Jeffrey Combs's intensity and of course Barbara Crampton in bondage gear. #spookyfilmfest25

The poster for the Rule of Jenny Pen which shows a closeup of a spooky doll head with seemingly glowing eyes.Above and slightly behind it an older man (John Lithgow) is staring at the viewer. They are both in dim lighting and look menacing
Film #21! There's lots of care home horror these days. I was eager for some bonkers John Lithgow (hoping for Ricochet/Raising Cain level bonkers). This didn't quite get there but was still somewhat fun, but also a bit sad. Felt about ten minutes too long. Still, very creepy puppet. #spoopyfilmfest25

The poster for Bryan Fuller's new filim Dust Bunny shows a green background with gold swirly designs on it, with the letters of the title spelled out in what looks like brownish hair. There is something pointy poking out of the lower loop of the "B".
Film #20! Got to see this last night as part of @irishfilminstitute.bsky.social's Horrorthon. A dark fairy tale that's more "Pushing Daisies" than "Hannibal," with a fantastic child actor. I recommend avoiding the trailer. Mikkelson always fantastic, Weaver is weird fun. #spoopyfilmfest25.

The poster for the Gorge shows the heads of the two leads in profile with their foreheads together. Below them is a landscape showing two opposing towers on opposite edges of a gorge.the tagline between the towers reads "the world's most dangerous secret lies between them." The title is below that, literally in the gorge
Film #19! After the last intense watch, I needed something dumb. There are traces of a much better movie in here, but instead we get a scene where they play chess and then they play drums, as if the leads are reminding us of better things they've been in. Also Ent zombies? #spoopyfilmfest25

The poster for the film Good Boy shows an adorable dog looking slightly left of the viewer with a concerned look on its face while a creepy hand is poised over its head like it's about to grab it. The title is at the top with the tagline "Trust his instincts"
Film #18! Emotionally devastating, but kind of in a good way? Starring the most expressive dog in the world, who is definitely a very good boy. Deeply scary at times, which may be due to the cute dog in the middle of it all. Recommended. #spoopyfilmfest25

The poster for the 1988 film Fright Night Part 2. It shows a lot of weirdly stylized houses and buildings with trees and lampposts in front of them. i guess it's supposed to look like the college campus in the film. In the middle is a taller apartment building. In the sky above the building the clouds have formed a vampire face with a wide smile and too many teeth, similar to the poster in the first movie. There are lots of smaller monster vampire faces in the clouds around the big face and to the side of the building. The title is at the top
Film #17! I love both Fright Night (1985) and its remake (2011) with a deep, abiding love that knows no bounds. I was sure I had seen this before and I was wrong. A sequel done right, building from the first but fun and weird in its own right, and with a stellar cast. #spoopyfilmfest25

The poster for the 1977 Japanese film Hausu, which is entitled House in English. It shows a close up painting of a white cat that looks angry or like it's yelling. It has a very big red human looking mouth with lots of pointed white teeth. The title is in squiggly light green bubble letters over the lower lip of the cat's mouth and obscuring a red rose right under the cat's mouth.
Film #16! Another rewatch. I LOVE THIS MOVIE SO MUCH. I actually don't have words to describe it, and attempting to do so would be a disservice to everyone. 1970s Japanese weirdness (positive) is all I'll say. If you haven't seen this, it's on internet archive. #spoopyfilmfest25

The poster for the film Together shows two people in extreme closeup where all you can see is the area around their eyes. Their eyelids and eyelashes are merging. Their eyes themselves are very close to each other.
Film #15! OMG. I very much enjoyed this. Going in, I only knew it was about a couple having bad times, and that the actors are married in real life. The film is more than the sum of those parts. A stunning exploration of commitment. #scaryfilmfest25

The poster for Final Destination 5 shows a skull with rebar poking out the front of it. There are fragments of glass around it. The tagline at the top is "Death has never been closer". The title and film info is at the bottom.
Film #14! I have now seen all of the final destination films and aside from #4 (see above) they were all ridiculous and fun and nonsensical and gory in the best way and exactly what I need right now. Absolutely surprising ending that I appreciated deeply. #spookyfilmfest25.

The poster for the unrated version of Excision, which shows in the top half a woman from the waist up wearing only a white, sort of wide strap crisscross bikini top. She is wearing a lot of makeup, particularly pancake makeup and dark eye makeup. She has blond curlyish hair that goes down below her shoulders. Her arms are bent at the elbow with her hands in front of her, back of the hands to the viewer, and her fingers are bloody. Upside down in the bottom half is the same actress with flat brown hair, no makeup, in the same pose. She is wearing a doctor's coat and nitrile gloves, all of which are covered in blood. The title and the tagline "heal the sickness" are both upside down and right side up between the two figures
Film lucky #13! Wooowee! Difficult and uncomfortable yet darkly funny at times, with a stunning lead performance. Also with Traci Lords,John Waters, Ray Wise, Malcolm McDowell. I watched the unrated version, but I'm not sure what that means. Wow that ending. Not for everyone. #spookyfilmfest25

The poster for the 2024 Korean horror film Exhuma. There's a border around the edge like the viewer is looking down into a grave. Instead of the bottom of the grave, however, there's a blue-grey background and pictures of the four lead actors from the shoulders up are different sizes, all four looking different directions. At the top is an older man, then a young woman with writing on her face, a middle-aged man with glasses, and finally a young man with a ponytail. The title is on the bottom in Korean.
Film #12! Exhuma. Enjoyable horror on the surface, but even better with a deep dive into Korean history and tradition to understand some elements after watching. Without that background, it's a different film but still good. Fantastic performances. Deeply creepy imagery throughout #spookyfilmfest25

The poster for The Man in My Basement is split into two levels, like storeys in a house. Corey Hawkins is on a couch looking at the viewer on the top "storey" of the poster, the title is in the middle, as if it is in the floor, and Willem Dafoe is on the bottom "storey" of the poster like he is in the basement. Things are murky around Dafoe so you can't really see the setting. He's looking off to the viewer's right.
Film #11! I saw a lot of reviews that complained this film is trying to do too much, and I agree 100%. I would add that the ending felt jarringly abrupt & characters make some baffling choices. Fantastic performances all around, though, and Willem Dafoe is always worth watching. #spookyfilmfest25

The poster for the animated film Perfect Blue shows the fractured reflection of a girl in a red dress. She is standing almost in profile, looking at the viewer over her right shoulder. Her right hand is holding a bloody icepick down by her hip. Because of the fractured image, her face and body are doubled and inhuman looking.
Film #10! I've seen this one before, but I got to see it on a big screen, 4K rerelease, in a packed theatre at @lighthousecinema.bsky.social. AND I got to experience Phil seeing it for the first time. Gorgeous, mind bending visuals. A masterpiece. #spookyfilmfest25

The poster for the film "I Saw the Face of the Devil". A silhouetted hand does the devil's horns in the middle of a red background. A girl's face is partially visible superimposed over the hand. The title is on the top left in French.
Film #9! I didn't realize this was a short film until it ended and I wanted more. A character study of a girl dealing with the conflict between her faith and her identity. Fantastic lead actress. In Polish, so I got to practice my languishing comprehension skills. #Spookyfilmfest25

A poster for the 1994 Dutch film Night watch. The top half shows a washed out image of a surprised or terrified looking woman on a light colored background. The bottom half has a silhouetted figure in a doorway, pointing a flashlight towards the viewer. The title is in block letters in the middle
Film #8! I've been curious about this one for a while. Fascinating exploration of masculinity and the lines of socially-condoned behaviour. A young Nikolaj Coster-Waldau looking like a lost puppydog. Kim Bodnia absolutely chewing the scenery. Equal parts goofy and horrific. #Spookyfilmfest25

The poster for the film Moloch has the title in big red block letters at the bottom. It's a greenish, spooky nighttime shot. In the upper third there's a house surrounded by trees. The lower floor of the house is partially obscured by fog. The one window in the upper floor has a red light coming from it. There are seven figures in white gown type things with their backs to the camera evenly spaced around in front of the house
Film #7! I enjoyed this a lot! Folk horror that feels unique because of its setting. Bonus points for exposition of inappropriate backstory through school pageant. Also bog bodies! #spookyfilmfest25

A drawing of a house on a hill in white on black with gravestones down the hill toward the viewer. Closest to the viewer is a forearm coming from the bottom right, with the attached hand holding a knife like there's gonna be some stabbing. The title is under the hand and knife, with all the names and whatnot at the bottom in small print

The poster for Final Destination 4,titled for some reason The Final Destination, shows a closeup mirror image of a woman screaming. The mirror is smashed, though, and behind missing pieces you can see a skull, particularly where her mouth should be. It looks dour and like no fun.
Film #5! I've been filling in the gaps of unwatched entries in this series, and this is the first to feel a bit like homework. You can really feel the absence of James Wong and Glen Morgan. Still sometimes fun though often unoriginal, and the title choice is baffling. #spookyfilmfest2025

The poster for Blood on Satan's Claw which has a drawing of a cloaked figure with a face you can't quite see. It's holding a naked blonde woman and it's hand holding her head is a claw. There are stylized red flames coming out to the sides of the figure. The title and cast are on the top right.
Film #4! I've seen clips from this so many times I forgot that I hadn't seen the whole thing. Genre-defining folk horror with absolutely bonkers imagery. A must-see. #spookyfilmfest25
